No that is the Metro HD. It has a hubmotor, (i've seen 350watt or 500 watt versions) and the Metro (no HD) has a chain drive frame-mount 500 watt motor. It's actually a bit cheaper.

BTW the specs list a 'disc brake'...its actually a 'band brake'...and at least on mine, it works well enough even with my weight going downhill. Of course, I haven't tried to blast down a 10% grade for 5 miles them drag the brakes till they burnup...but for what its worth the brake seems adequate for my use.

Throttle control seems...I guess...OK...my only good comparison is the throttle on my RadMini which is very 'coarse'...at low speeds, fine throttle control is not possible. it's a 'stairstep' throttle on the RadMini e-bike. The Razor throttle seems to have slightly better or finer throttle steps. Not a big deal either way, you get used to it.

On mine, with the frame-mount motor, I was pleasantly surprised that there is a 'slipper clutch' in the rear hub, meaning you can coast forward with very little drag from the motor, it disengages the sprocket when coasting forward, as when you release the throttle and gently coast down to a stop...very little drag from the motor...although there is SOME friction felt.

Trying to push it backwards tho, you will notice the motor dragging.

I would expect the HD model with the hubmotor would have less torque but maybe more efficient and no chain to worry about.

I have a 48v 1000watt chain drive motor NIB if you have a need for speed.

Hey just for fun....Pee Wee was so 'uncool' that he was 'cool'...and even made an appearance in Sturgis at the Legends Ride...which honors various 'legends' in the biker world.

I was in that crowd! Except...about 3 towns over. I had things to do, beer to drink, roads to ride, and women to...enjoy.

Cool

I have wondered if the rear hub motor from the Metro HD could be mounted on the FRONT of the Metro scooter that I have.

All Wheel Drive Scooter! That would be a hoot!

I just got back from a longer ride downtown...about 4 miles total distance...give or take.

I'm kinda getting the 'hang' of it....I was a bit awkward my first ride, but now I know (more or less) what to expect...how to maneuver a bit better.

At first I was standing with my feet side by side...which seems natural, but it responds better if you plant one foot in front of the other as you ride and especially when you push off or need to drop a foot for a slow maneuver.

Like I said, I'm learning!

I got a few looks and a few comments from other folks...the older folks were like 'I need one of those!' and the younger kids were all laughing and saying "hey that looks fun!" I mostly rode on the sidewalks at slow speeds, standing up, just cruising along...no hurry.

I can tell the seat is not meant for us older...uh....gentlemen. There is a certain level of...lets say...'sensitivity'...so I have to stand up for most of my riding except on really smooth pavement when just cruising along. It seems quite happy at about mid speed...about as fast as a healthy person would jog. So maybe about 8 to 10 miles per hour. Part of the reason the ride is a bit 'jarring' is because the tires have to be at 40 psi. They are, and it makes the ride pretty harsh. But again, when standing, it's not bad at all. When standing up and riding, I'm slightly bent over, the bars really aren't tall enough, but I can tolerate it without issues.

When I got back to Station, the power indicator still showed 'full'...I have no idea if that means, above 50% or above 90% or what. There are only two battery lights...FULL and LOW.

But it is what it is.

Anyway, it seems easily worth what I paid for it.

I like The Ford Museum/Greenfield Villiage which has the Wfight Bros Bike Shop & they had seats with hollow centers for men 100+ years ago. They used to do a 24 hour bike ride & a friend couldn't feel annything down there for over 3 weeks & was getting worried.

I would love to have a paved trail like that around here....but no such luck! To ride on a trail like that I will have to load up the scoot and drive the pickup more than 100 miles round trip to access something like that.

Which kinda seems at odds with the reason for having one...to save gas and wear and tear on the 7000 pound V8 gas guzzler.

But I might find a hike-n-bike trail after I get the hitch for the little trailer I have for it...which will allow me to take the pooch along, rather than leave her sitting in the truck.

Stay tuned!
