Thank you Scott, at least I had the advantage of the language over you, I'm not a fan of the cold, spent a few days in Newfoundland minus 40, don't know how they do it.

Welcome! If you ever need to get back on the water come to Michigan. Still lots of shipping & it's history. They used to put barrels of whiskey in the holds for ballest & a round trip from St Joe or South Haven to Chicago & back did the same as aging it 7 years or so I'm told. Might combine 2 of your interest & sell whiskey round trips.

I have friends in the North-East i want to visit some time, my only time that way was Boston, Chicago and New York in the winter, all work related not by choice.
On the spirits, in Cayman I had a buddy that was involved in 7 Fathom rum, matured in underwater cave at 42 feet ( 7 fathoms )constant sea temperature and motion rocking the barrels so no need of manual turning which matured the rum faster than normal.
A very good and well priced rum, can't find it where I live unfortunately. Google it and see.

Getting back on the water was important to me, so one of my hobbies is wooden boat building mostly Kayaks (13) but have built 16'' skiff 20'' Cat Ketch and 18'' Trimaran, passes the Covid down time right now.

Got the right colony. Canada. Lol. Nah I moved to Russia. It was for a short time. That was five years or more ago. Lol. Yeah language is a bitch. Pronouns and adverbs endings change based on plural or singular and male or female. Cup is male so is a knife but a spoon is female. Lol. Messed up. I get a T-shirt saying let’s do away with Gender but they’d get the wrong idea. Lol.

Glad to have you aboard as it is. What our absent server license holder didn’t tell you was the guy you should look up for any issues. Yeah he is a pirate. Real one. Lol.

Welcome makenmend.
Thought I recognized the term. (A couple decades in the SCA in a ‘house’ that recreates a 15th century dutch galleon - I know a few outdated skills like how to whip, splice, make proper rope grommets..lol)
We are a very varied lot here.

As on all pirate ships I didn't volunteer to be "in charge" ,,,it's never been a good idea dontchyasee !

Real enough fer the kiddies and I've seen a hint of belief in more than a few of the full grown kids too......

Wooden boat builder, welcome.

You must have patience and skills.

I've built several hollow wood surfboards, and stressed over the slightest details of design, in regards to hydrodynamics, weight and strength, and have likely build my last as it is just too tedious, and I don't need any more surfboards.

At this point I'm only concentrating changing up the fins, where I feel there is lots of room for improvement over what has been accepted design, with little change, since 1967 or so, when George Greenough copied the tail fin of a bluefin tuna, slapped it on a kneeboard, and changed the way a wave could be ridden.

Sternwake, thank you, it is a little long winded doing strip build kayaks roughly 200 hours but I find it relaxing same as fishing.
As for surf boards after trying out I came to a rapid conclusion that I'm better sitting in a craft than trying to stand. With boat building it took me quite some time fussing and fiddling and accept the 5' rule and get on with the project. Just finished my 1st skin on frame build but haven't tested yet to see I float or swim.

I have long enjoyed your informative posts elsewhere and missed when you left, so it was a great pleasure to find you here
