CRVL Forum down for a few days
#81
I'll guess sometime in August but it really don't much matter to me. I post over there, I post here, I post other places. Always somewhere to post something that so few read and even fewer comment on. The Jeep site I'm on seems to be a little active. The Ranger site is really slow. Then there are the handful of Youtubers that I follow and they do a regular and interesting thing and I get a bit of interaction with them. Hoping to start a new build thread when I get this travel trailer project home tomorrow but we'll see how that goes.

I’ll agree with the “clueless hoster” comment. I’d be fired if I had a site down for a whole day.....

The one website I reluctantly run doesn’t have a forum, thankfully. But I still have a dual redundant server set up for a instant switch if one server goes down and a solid and constant backup.

If Bob was paying someone to take care of his site he should be getting his money back.

I've modded on several forums and admin'd two (only because I was slightly less clueless than the site owner). All but one was a small labor of love, someone with a passion for the subject but very little tech ability; they built basic VB sites, turned em on and hoped to share their passion with like minded people. When there were tech glitches they could be down for days or weeks as we wandered amongst the VB tech info trying to find a fix. I'm just tickled that some folks, like Gary, put in the work to create a hangout.

That forum I had was more plain Jane but easy to customize once you learned PHP of course. Life sometimes gives you too many projects to handle at one time and do them all well so something had to fall out. I deleted my site and didn't renew my domain name so now I have a little more time to work on other things. Gotta get that rental house done now before I can do more stuff but there is still more stuff in the way of that. Geeze, I thought retirement was supposed to be relaxing.
