Came over to the wild side
Posted by: Wayne49 - 07-18-2018, 07:27 AM - Forum: Welcome Center - Replies (16)

Hi Everyone,

CRVL has gotten so dull.

Was just wondering whatever happened to MrLooRead after he moved into an apartment from a trailer down by the river.

I thought sternwake had gone luddite off the internet completely.

Made my day!

Thank you to whoever set this place up.

  Losing my f-in' mind!!
Posted by: AbuelaLoca - 07-17-2018, 05:15 PM - Forum: Welcome Center - Replies (13)

Hey gang! Sorry I've been absent so long! All rumors about my disappearance are probably true. While I work very hard to always put a positive spin on life, sometimes it still gets the best of me! Lots of sickness and death in family and friends has me running around the state on my good weekends, and the bad weekends... well it's just hard to get out of bed to go pee! Big thanks to Gary, Cammy, and GotSmart for always checking up on me!

My van is finally fixed. It was the "computer" but I have a beautifully clean transmission that will last a long time now! I'm very ready to get started on the build again, but health and finances rule so we'll see!

I'm going to try to use Tapatalk for the forum to get in here more often, but apparently there's a learning curve and I ain't getting it!

Big Grin

Would it be possible to add a place for the user's vehicle? Some threads about vehicle problems do not contain that info. Being able ta access that info would help imo.

I have a new Garmin. Nuvi 2597

It does not provide a gps coordinate format

Nnn.nnnnnn

Notice the 6 digits after the decimal point.

  Only.   Nnn.nnnnn. (5) digits.

How do I convert?

  Hey misfits and weirdos

Just found this forum the other day and to my astonishment recognized the majority of users on the members list. Already being a proud member of YARC (four fingers) there were not any qualms about signing up.
Have been doing the van thing for just over fifteen months, so you won't be getting the "how do you poop in a bucket" question. Are you bummed? If so; don't be, still have many other questions to annoy you with. After all I'm still a greenhorn compared to many of you.
Loads of gratitude to Gary for getting this forum up and running. It's so much more laid back here. No one seems to have a cob stuck in their ass. If you are one of the lurkers and haven't registered as of yet hit that button and make yourself known. There's a fantastic group of folks here who will set you up with sound advice on getting to where you want to be while living this lifestyle. You won't regret it!

OK, I did enough reading and decided to give a VPN a try to obfuscate my location and scramble my $1.298 bank deposits away from “Big Brother” and Nito the Russian hacker...

I signed up for the #1 rated ExpressVPN, which according to the review/comparison article I read, while not the cheapest, it’s a quality system. They’ve been in business since 2009 and are located in the US Virgin Islands. I’ve offered to go do a face-to-face check of their physical location but so far, RT airline tickets and hotel accommodations haven’t been sent... Big Grin

Here’s a blurb from the  “Comparitech.com” website:

ExpressVPN is our number one choice of VPN and it’s clear why. It offers unbeatable performance and reliability while maintaining your privacy with industry-leading security. ExpressVPN truly stands out when it comes to streaming, reliably unblocking all the major services including Netflix, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, and Amazon Prime Video. That means you can always connect and stream HD content without any issues.

ExpressVPN offers the best all-round performance of any VPN we’ve tested, with an unbeatable combination of speed, reliability, privacy and customer service while unblocking all major streaming services.

ExpressVPN isn’t the cheapest provider, but you certainly get what you pay for. With over 148 locations in 94 countries, it offers fast, reliable connections from wherever you’re based. In our tests, ExpressVPN is one of the few providers that reliably bypasses censorship in countries like China and the UAE.

Pros:

  • Unblocks Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, iPlayer and other streaming services
  • 24/7 live customer service
  • 148 locations in 94 countries
  • Total privacy – keeps no logs
It’s $6.95 a month and you can get 3 months free (15 vs 12) if you sign up for the annual $99.00.

(For you cheapskates, there is a #2 rated service for $2.95 a month but it had some other shortcomings. Being independently wealthy, I consider such measly savings with disdain... I picked up enough recycle bottles and cans this month to more than offset my 1st month’s fee!)   Angel

The ExpressVPN can cover 3 mobile devices.

Since I just got it yesterday I cannot comment on anything as far as customer service or problems, however, with more and more digital snooping/theft/ransomware and banking attacks happening, “big players” like me in my Prius are obvious targets!  Big Grin

Just a thought for those of you who like me, don’t trust either government (US/Canada) or anyone else for that matter.

Prices on Solar going up due to Tariffs
Posted by: American Nomad Patriot - 07-12-2018, 05:07 PM - Forum: Product Reviews - Replies (13)

There is a expected up to 30-50% increase in prices on Solar Panels due to the tariffs on or by other countries. If you have the funds and plan to buy some in the near future I suggest buying asap. This is not open for political discussion about tariffs. Only about prices going up and hoping someone can save some money.    David
