She has an appointment for knee surgery.

It is a bad idea to try to have a mixed battery bank.  You might be able to sell them at RTR.

Safe choice, but let's make sure we're on the same page.

The XLDs are listed as 210Ah.  If you have them series-parallel you have 12v and 420Ah.  That may be more than your panels can keep up with.  The normal minimum ratio of panel watts to bank Ah is 1:1, with 2:1 being preferable if it's the only charging source.  Yours is 0.95:1.  See below for setpoint recommendations that may help.

The Trojans are 210Ah;  the voltage is doubled with you wire them in series, not the Ah.  [oops, just realized you are talking about the big 16 format]

If it were me I'd try to fix the XLD bank before laying out any more cash

  1. Open them up and water with distilled as needed.  I suspect they are low.
  2. use the controller monitor to crank up the Absorption voltage (Vabs) to 14.7v or 14.8v, whatever the manufacturer recommends.  I suspect Vabs is low;  the controllers are generally preset to AGM setpoints like Vabs 14.2v or something to avoid cooking batteries when people don't read the manuals.   I dont' know if the Commander lets you adjust Absorption duration; if it does then crank that up to 120-180 minutes.
  3. watch and hope
If you get lucky they have life left in them and you can nurse them along.

Now that you are serious about your batteries ~~~

This is what I have. Fullriver DC224 AGM.  It is what I was trying to get for you.  7 year warranty for about $250 each.  You get what you pay for.

That is just one supplier.  You might find someone local that has them.

I bought mine used, and three years later, I seldom go below 13V.  Usually 13.6 with my two panals, and pwm controller. They have hit 14.4 when using the alternator on long runs.  Big Grin

They will fit directly into your battery case. Just be sure to get the right post/attachment set up.
