Got my back-up cam transplanted. Yay
Learned the power port is ignition dependent- also yay!
Tried installing the avs, but they refused to fit my window.  The curve was wrong.. and I didn’t want to break it, or my old window trims.. so returning for a different style..
The classic chromes would have been kewl, but functional is the name of the game here.. lol

Tomorrow I work on the floor..
For now, most of the original- still in good shape- plywood stays. I will just replace the bad bit in the rear. {thanks for the wood-epoxy lesson Stern!! That bit will need it the most!}
(Partly because wood is spendy, partly because I don’t feel like cleaning and sealing a zillion little floor screw-holes.. lol)
I plan to slightly over drill/cut the big bolt holes, so I can clean up the metal edges, then JB-metal putty them shut. Only about 16 of those…
Also got ‘scratch and dent’ vinyl flooring from the home store.. manager liked my dog.. :)
It is the super thick 25yr stuff that adds much kneeded padding to the surface.

Mental note: while sitting and futzing around in the cab, full afternoon sun, near 80 deg, windshield just had a set of the whippy-snappy mylars… it was pretty cool with the door open.  Put my hand up on the ceiling.. yep- air temp, not sun-baked metal hot! Well insulated ceiling!!! Another Yay

Got her pre-reg inspected yesterday also-  passed … until her right headlight went out- lolol
Fine, perfect, now I have a fully legit excuse to upgrade to my favorite LEDs (that are adequately bright, but do not blind oncoming traffic)

And a couple nights ago- neighbor’s very dead tree tried to kill my van.  Thankfully it has poor aim.. just threw finger-sized to cop-maglight sized branches at the brick wall and the minivan.. (both basically unscathed) and left a mess.  Yes, this is the same tree that tried to take out Faith… landlord currently declining to remove said hazard to his property and finances.  It could also drop into the front yard where the family’s children play…. No big deal-  cheap ass negligent idiot!

Today’s progress..
Biggered the bolt holes, and cleaned the metal.
How? You ask?  Well, used a bit of copper scrubber, a large flat head screwdriver, and some brake cleaner..

screw-scrubbed and shined. Then spritzed with rusty metal primer.. and patched the holes.. .. well, Most of them..
also got the gunky board out of the rear section..and debrided and primed there too- just not patched.. need a new plan.
Sprayed all black-funk places I cound find with concrobium (?) a pro-type mold killer.
Then primed the good floor part with Kilz for good measure.
Thinking I may “float” my lino. And just tag down the edges under some sort of ‘baseboard’ as this will allow for some hot/cold flex.. and MUCH easier replacement if ever needed. And.. besides.. I am still a little traumatized by that whole white-water floor in the old trailer.. lolol

Worked out the logistics - mostly - of the vent install.. my only worry is what might be behind the ceiling.  Don’t want to drag insulation out of place with a jig saw.. so…
plan is to do the measure and template from above, drill out the corners, then use my recip saw to cut from inside First, just go through the fluff-board.. and remove carefully.  Then cut the roof. And proceed as usual for install.

^My new FAVORITE way to cut the roof is with a "Sandwich"..........I've done a square and round vent with this trick

I stack 2'x2' squares of foam insulation to a depth of the metal sabre (jig) saw blade......and back it with a single bottom crust of Plywood..........then JAM it UP in the desired interior location with a stout 2x4

NOW its a simple matter to drill/cut the opening from the roof side......the metal cutout never falls down......all the dirt and metal cuttings are contained in the foam.....the vibration of the saw is reduced especially if you really force the sandwich in place

YMMV

Lol- starting the vent install once the sun comes up.. taking a pause for a job interview, picking up any needed bits and bobs on the way back, then resuming install.

Perhaps you should try for a job at a custom van shop?
Compared to parenting, Cat herding is less complicated
