One thing leads to another.
A couple of days ago the stove at a rental started having electric issues. The part needed has not been available for years, so new stove.
The delivery was free so why not. I’ll tell you why not.
I see the truck pull in so I walk over to it. I’m watching one guy in the back shoving a box around. It is on its side. Then my phone rings. They are there, where are you? The driver is in the truck calling because nobody met them. Meanwhile the guy in the back is flipping the box over a couple of times until he finally gets it on its feet. He cuts it open and I see dents. Side and back so cosmetic and probably won’t hurt it working.
They take it into the house and go to install the power cord. I pointed to the cord holder that is on the floor and the driver told me “Oh I have never installed one of those.
They shove the stove towards the opening and plug it in. Then they try to slide it in. It won’t go. “The opening is too small!” So said the driver who is texting and had not set his phone down once.
I write received damage on the receipt, call the store and get a claim going. They leave and after cutting myself on a sharp part I decided to wait for Arturo to help. I opened the oven door to find a clip designed to keep the stove from tilting if a child climbs on the door. One of the things that the installer is supposed to do. On the oven in several places are warning labels instructing to install the safety brace.
I set up an appointment with the tenant for the next morning to install it. I made sure that it was working and picked up some furniture sliders for the feet.
The next day it took less than 1/2 hour to complete the installation. Then we go to put in the bottom drawer. The framework is damaged so much that it doesn’t fit.
In my lifetime I have installed many appliances. Never have I seen anything like this. I’m waiting for a call from corporate so I can explain exactly what kind of liability the two clowns have exposed the company to.
