Doom Despair and Agony on me
#11
Lots of branches and mailboxes.

I watched a squirrel in a tree leaving falling ice in his wake. He was not happy with the situation.

You can have it.

One thing leads to another. Yesterday we changed out the plugs and wires. Both had to be sent twice because of shipping issues. I never would have completed the job without Arturo. He got an unexpected case of beer for his help.

On the test drive I filled the gas tank. And saw fuel leaking on the ground. I’m guessing it is a hose problem. That will wait until the tank is almost empty.

Today I ran the RV. As I was going through the dashboard systems I noticed that things were not reading correctly. So I opened up the panel and saw damaged wires. Little tiny 22 gauge pigtails. Order, unclip and replace. I just saved a service call and a couple of hours labor.

One thing leads to another.

A couple of days ago the stove at a rental started having electric issues. The part needed has not been available for years, so new stove.

The delivery was free so why not.   I’ll tell you why not.  Angry

I see the truck pull in so I walk over to it. I’m watching one guy in the back shoving a box around. It is on its side. Then my phone rings. They are there, where are you?  The driver is in the truck calling because nobody met them. Meanwhile the guy in the back is flipping the box over a couple of times until he finally gets it on its feet. He cuts it open and I see dents. Side and back so cosmetic and probably won’t hurt it working.

They take it into the house and go to install the power cord. I pointed to the cord holder that is on the floor and the driver told me “Oh I have never installed one of those.  Huh

They shove the stove towards the opening and plug it in. Then they try to slide it in. It won’t go. “The opening is too small!”  So said the driver who is texting and had not set his phone down once.

I write received damage on the receipt, call the store and get a claim going. They leave and after cutting myself on a sharp part I decided to wait for Arturo to help. I opened the oven door to find a clip designed to keep the stove from tilting if a child climbs on the door.   One of the things that the installer is supposed to do. On the oven in several places are warning labels instructing to install the safety brace.

I set up an appointment with the tenant for the next morning to install it. I made sure that it was working and picked up some furniture sliders for the feet.

The next day it took less than 1/2 hour to complete the installation. Then we go to put in the bottom drawer. The framework is damaged so much that it doesn’t fit.

In my lifetime I have installed many appliances. Never have I seen anything like this. I’m waiting for a call from corporate so I can explain exactly what kind of liability the two clowns have exposed the company to.

Due to family emergency, I had to make a run to the Nashville airport. 300 miles later the truck passed with flying colors. Several times I looked down and saw how fast it was going. It rides really well at 80. Time to trouble shoot the cruise control.

The parts are stacking up.

Radiator because it’s leaking. Hoses because new radiator. Water pump because it would be foolish to not replace it when everything is open. Same with thermostat. Electric radiator fan to help reduce stress on motor, and the cost is close to a new fan clutch assembly. Besides that will help increase gas mileage enough to pay for itself in a year or so. New belt because old one showing cracks. Coolant, flush, hose clamps, thermostat switch for fan. And finally the fitting for the fan switch.

All for about $100 more than the local parts house wanted for the radiator alone. Now all I need is a couple of warm days on a weekend and a case or two of beer to bribe helpers.
