#1
Plenty of money in the economy and shortages of everything and everything that goes into building everything else have emptied out the showrooms...dealers got nuttin!

I'm looking to buy a smallish trail bike...and yeah they are all over youtube and cycle trader...you call the dealers...they got nuttin. I have called every Honda and Yamaha dealer within 400 miles. They just laugh. One dealer told me that the factories are about 11 months behind and every bike they have on order is already spoken for.

Oh there are a few unusual or expensive machines, that nobody wants, or used ones that cost more than new ones...

I am now on a couple of waiting lists. Crazy.

MAYBE A LOCAL AD AND I WANTED SECTION<<<<I SAID IN THE WANTED SECTION OF SOME OF THE LOCAL SALES PAPERS AND MAYBE SOME OF THE NATIONAL ONES JUST STATING WHAT YOU WANT.

IF YOU ARE WILLING TO WORK WITH SOMEONE THAT MAY BE ABOUT TO LOSE THEIR BIKE AND DON'T WANT TO WALK AWAY AND RUIN THEIR CREDIT WITH EMPTY POCKETS EITHER YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO WORK SOMETHING OUT WITH THEM.  MAYBE BY OFFERING TO GO WHEREVER THE BIKE HAS A NOTE ON IT AND PUTTING SOME MONEY IN SOMEBODY'S POCKET YOU MIGHT GET A GOOD PRICE FOR ONE THAT'S BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND NOT BEAT HALF TO DEATH.

LAST YEAR AFTER MY SON'S YAMAHA MAJESTY WAS VANDALIZED TWO OR THREE TIMES AND THE POLICE WERE INVOLVED. THEN IT WAS STOLEN, TOTALED AND DUMPED ONE ALLEY OVER FROM WHERE HE LIVED.   GEICO TOTALED IT OUT AT $1,500.   WHEN HE BOUGHT IT IT LOOKED JUST LIKE NEW. IT ALSO HAD MANY AFTERMARKET AND UPGRADES ON IT AND ITHAD NEVER SPENT ANY TIME OUT IN THE WEATHER.

HE WAS REAL LUCKY HE FOUND A 1995 POWDER BLUE HONDA GOLDWING WITH EVERYTHING ON IT EXCEPT THE REFRIGERATOR AND THE KITCHEN SINK.   IT WAS IN GOOD SHAPE, LOW MILES AND BELONGED TO AN OLDER GENTLEMAN WHO HAD I BELIEVE IT WAS SOME HEART ISSUES NOT TOO LONG AFTER HE PURCHASED IT AND IT HAD BARELY BEEN RIDDEN SINCE HE GOT IT.   THEY WERE ASKING $4,500 FOR IT AND ALL MY SON HAD WAS $1,500 FROM THE MAJESTY SCOOTER.   HE TALKED TO THEM AND TOLD HIM HIS SITUATION HE CALLED ME AND ASKED ME TO TALK TO THEM SAYING "MAMA YOU KNOW YOU TALK GOOD WITH PEOPLE ".  THEY LET HIM HAVE IT FOR $1500 RIGHT BEFORE HE HAD HIS HIP REPLACED IN  LAST NOVEMBER.

HE HAS A NEW WIFE AND I'VE BEEN TEASING HIM ASKING HIM WHERE SHE WAS GOING TO RIDE CUZ IF HE PUTS HIS CAT IN CAGE ON THE BACK WHAT'S HE GOING TO DO WITH HIS WIFE?   I'M STILL WAITING FOR MY ANSWER   Rolleyes

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SEARCH I HOPE YOU FIND WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR..

I see china has closed it's largest port so it's going to hard & expensive to get things. Also we all have a "buy-in" policy at our banks so if they get in trouble we the depositor bails them out with our money on deposit & get stock in the failing bank like in It's a Wonderful life, one of my favorite shows.

THINGS LIKE YOU DESCRIBE ARE THE REASON THAT I HAVE ALL MY BILLS THAT ARE DUE WRITTEN ON A LIST INCLUDING HOW I PAY EACH ONE AND WHEN MY MONEY HITS THE BANK I START PAYING BILLS . I USE AUTOMATED SYSTEMS BEFORE DAYLIGHT OR IN PERSON AS BUSINESSES OPEN UP.

I ALSOP START PULLING FUNDS OUT OF MY ACCOUNT AT THE SAME TIME THAT I SHOP.   RIGHT NOW I AM A 40 MILE ROUND TRIP FROM THE CLOSEST BRANCH OF THE CREDIT UNION I'M WITH.   SO AT PUBLIX AND WALMART AS I DO MY GROCERY SHOPPING I ALSO PULL FUNDS WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY A FEE OUT WITH EACH TRANSACTION.  SOMETIMES MY TRANSACTION MIGHT JUST BE AS LARGE AS A LOAF OF BREAD OR 10 POUNDS OF DOG FOOD.

yea happening all over and THE EFFECTS of what the last year of Corona did and how work 'shut down' and how all manufacturing was effected vs. what they had as warehouse backup for deliver etc WILL NOW be felt and it is......we all seen it coming Smile probably at least a year or 2 deciding on who works or lives off the govt on extra covid payments to employment and decides to enter the work force again, to what does 'variant' covid does to screw us up more or a ton of factors on 'how does life proceed' now? the gluttony of on demand is over right now.....it is for everything out there with respect to workers/manufacturers past dealings and covid times.

be ready for A TON to be less than and it ain't just luxury items like bikes and trikes and moto's and more......it will be a ton of things. I am seeing it now more progressed on simple crap as soup not available as it normally would be and people buying and hoarding more cheap on sale things for inflation wallet survival and other foods not being restocked 'as normal'....it will all change for a good few years and depending on advancement of Cornoa and more ??? flow with the flow is best anyone can do--------worse to come, not a doubt in my mind
3 Stinkin' Badges, YARC, 3 Cat Ass Trophies , ROOIRIA Wannabe,(never happen) and still a Bisquit cause me soggy!
And 2 run down Flying Manure Spreaders!

lol. Welcome to life in Russia. Can’t get this because of sanctions. Can’t buy a replacement part because of import bans. Company won’t do biz because of bad reputation.

Then the work around market. Brand new Audi R8’s coming off the boat. Lada making a sports car. Old factory reopening making those Russian BMW Ural bikes again. Chocolate factories opening to make chocolate as importation is problematic.

Perhaps this is a way, workaround, To Make America.....lol. It’s life you got toilet paper and food. You ain’t getting out alive.

TX2srurgis, I don't think the DOT requires a speedo at least not here.

Srurgis?

lol...

Ok, where is 'here'...aren't you in the USA? Or do you live somewhere that has new vehicles for sale without speedometers?

The US Department of Transportation has the authority to specify what equipment is required on ALL new motor vehicles sold in the US market, for US consumers, intended to be used on public state and federal roads and highways.....and this includes motorcycles. (For purposes of the scooter I am referring to, it falls under the legal definition of a 'motorcycle' because it can exceed 30 mph and it has more than 5 horsepower. I am NOT referring to the little push scooters with a little weed-eater motor on the back)

The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) is one of the agencies under the Federal DOT and under a VERY LONG list of requirements for motorcycles, including all the controls like brakes, clutches, turn signals, mirrors, etc, you will find the requirements for the speedometer to show the vehicle speed in MPH, and NOT, for example 'feet per second', or 'yards per day'.

In the case of the scooter I refer to that is waiting on the speedometer, that unit also houses the turn signal indicators, and the neutral light, and high beam indicator, which are all required on brand new motorcycles sold in the USA.

If you wish to know the exact law, I looked it up for you:

Under 49 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations), Section 571.123 (Motorcycle Controls and Displays)

Here is Table 3, required display and control equipment accessible to the operator seated in the saddle on a NEW motorcycle sold in the USA:

A speedometer is plainly one of the requirements...not number 1, it is number 8, but still it is a requirement.

At any rate, this particular scooter manufacturer is a small operation making only a few thousand units a year normally. They sure can't afford to be sued out of existence similar to what happened to Ridley Motorcycles. When 'David' is small and does not have an office full of lawyers, he better not go up against a 'Goliath' like the United States Department of Transportation.

We all know who would win.
