The E BIKE Thread
#71
Yup. monster risk on the roads we know in our areas. We are windy and not good clean sight for drivers who have to concentrate on other cars and yet there I am, on the side, minding my own biz and 'trying not to get slammed' and I had a few close calls where I said I AM DONE with this shit! not worth it as much as we want to rely on bikes, horses, our feet to get us there, our roads are unforgiving now.

funny cause I chatted this crap with my FIL who long ago had a farm homestead not far from here and there was 'one main road' into 'what ya want to 'call the town' and they were in a horse and wagon crash accident.....everyone trotted the forest road fast to get to A and B and they came around a sharp curve and met up with another horse and wagon coming at the same speed.....he said everyone survived and the horses were fine but DAMN if that didn't upset ALL of them LOL I was like....darn crazy crap went down in old times and worse now in new times --just found that so interesting when he told that story LOL

No suspension on that one. Only good for smooth city streets.

ANOTHER DAMN FLAT!

I had to push the MF 1.6 miles with a ruined back tire...and I had the 'Cammie Coach' in tow...let me tell ya folks...that was rough on this old man!

Jeezus....

There IS a 'walk assist' function on most e-bikes but it does very little to help when the tire is flat. It will tend to spin the rim inside the loose tire and then the tire becomes dislodged and the assist is just about worthless. And yes, before anyone says 'well you should have this or that with you'...yeah...either push the bike and keep making progress, barely ahead of the swarms of mosquitos, OR, set up along side the road, in the dark, near all the grass and weeds, trying to effect some kind of repair in the blackness, while me and pooch get eaten alive by mosquitos. NO THANKS!

BTW, I DO carry a can of fix-a-flat and a can of slime but thats about it. I usually DONT ride any farther from home than I would want to push the damn thing. That was that case last night.

I told a friend here about that ebike breakdown and he said, 'well you should have called me!'.....yeah....now you tell me!

I've looked at various anti-flat solutions and they are either expensive, out of stock, or not available in this tire size....

Arrgh...
