USB type C is about to become popular.
Might want to add that to the list.
(It's been the accepted standard for many 10? years but is just starting to be included in some new devices ,,, should be another 10 before it is almost everywhere like USB micro...I still have some devices that use USB mini ! )

No I-charging ?

Induction charging is gaining momentum too.

I'd just cover my own needs , most people seem to carry cords to match their devices.
stay tuned

Blue Seas makes usb outlets. Direct wire to 12V, no "ciggy plug" needed.
My cargo van had two "ciggy" outlets on the dash. I removed one and replaced it with a twin USB outlet made to replace "ciggy" outlets.

Anything that you could imagine can be found online. The trick is to read the fine print. The last USB plug I got has a full time power drain. Who needs a bright light to mark your outlet?

I like the powerwerkz stuff, and you can of course buy a panel with multiple holes and add one of their switches, power outlets, meters, fuses, whatever you want.

I use the blue seas 2.4 amp dual chargers. Here is one that has your requested on/off, USB 3.0 and voltmeter: https://www.amazon.com/Charger-CHGeek-Adapter-Waterproof-Motorcycle/dp/B07F73MGX8/ref=sr_1_5?gclid=Cj0KCQiA0ZHwBRCRARIsAK0Tr-qHThZP3-SRByYIPxkj9BV5jA9IFaYVM0RedaGv8Z6qzIzvN4hLsS8aAixaEALw_wcB&hvadid=174224235340&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9051528&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=17280287969204874774&hvtargid=kwd-164645692576&hydadcr=19103_9441108&keywords=blue+sea+1045&qid=1577411590&sr=8-5

I installed a pair of '4.2' amp usb outlets in a friend's vw bus. Very similar in appearance to the Blue seas versions with fat spade terminals on the backside and a threaded ring.
They have a input voltage display, and when it was actually charging something, show the amperage (at 5v) the item was consuming.

The display was in between the 2 output ports, so if one had two plugs installed and it was not at perfect eyeball height, one could not see the display making it as much a novelty, as a useful feature.

I put switches on them to negate the parasitic draw and turn off the red voltage display when not in use.

My BlueSeas usb output, the earlier/older version, had the internal white portion on which the contacts reside, break off. But it still works as long as the cord is not plugged in backwards.

My phone has decided to never charge faster than @ 0.42 amps on this unit in either receptacle, yet another usb device I have will suck up the full 2.1 amps, so fast charging of my phone on the BS device is out, and this is inconvenient, and sometimes annoying when I have to use other usb sources to fast charge the phone.

Its not the cord nor the USB ammeter nor dirty contacts either, my phone simply refuses, on this Blueseas USB, to fast charge, and this is fairly recent behavior. So i have been considering replacing it. but I don't want the voltage or ammeter display of the units I installed in the VW bus

Fuzzy weirdness and USB chargers. I have an iPhone, IPad, and charger for my vape device. The Vape uses 1650 batteries and I can charge it from either the high current or low current device that plugs into the outlet.
Cords I took two, one usb micro to usb and one usb to lighting for the apple devices.
Flight from Russia to Amsterdam. Cords plugged directly into the usb charging port on plane.
iPad fine.
iPhone 6max toasted.
Take phone to repair facility. Smoked charging module and battery.
Figured I got a spike on the plane while the iPhone was charging.
Return to Russia.
Days later phone is fucked again. Take it to my guy. Smoked charging module and battery bulging from overcharge. Fixed.
Three days later iPhone is smoked again. I’d been using the apple charger and an aftermarket high end braided cable. The same cable I took to Amsterdam. The same cable that charges the iPad daily, without issue. Back to my guy and same issue. Without the battery bulge. Fixed again and bought cheap cable on his recommendation. Two months no issue with the phone using the cheap cable. Hard to say what the culprit is with any certainty but; phone hasn’t smoked so? Phone and iPad are plugged in at the same time now overnight so if it is a transient power spike it should smoke them both. But to date nothing. Luckily a module and battery replacement here is forty bucks out the door.

My point is if a cord was the culprit and I don’t buy cheap crap, ciggy plug adapters and the rest can compound the issue and repairing devices isn’t cheap in North America.

Pay attention to the amp charge rating for the device too. They are not all the same.

Pay attention was directed at readers of the post and not Sterneake. While to me it is obvious, I just wanted to be clear.
I’ve heard so many times usb is usb. My old iPod likes 1.4.
