Using the useless propane oven as a Lithium charging vault.
#1
The little flickering light bulb went on in my brain and I realized for rechargeable devices such as my speaker they can charge in the oven. And they might be safe to leave charging while I’m outside?. I’ve read several accounts of RVs burning due to charging devices!!. As this is my full time home I’m going to be extra careful. And no full coverage insurance on this old RV. Do other folks leave stuff charging unattended?? What safeguards do you take?
There’s a great surplus yard nearby that has a variety of steel boxes. I’m considering one of these for my big Lithium batteries.
Here a little friendly reminder not to charge your phone or device when it drops below freezing. Can ruin the battery. Forgetting a phone charging in the frozen car overnight is a common error. I’m not sure exactly what happens to the battery. Any one have input on these matters? Maybe a damaged battery by cold has more potential to ignite. I’ve read that metal impurities in the electrolyte can cause shorting?
Thanks, now I’ve gotten all paranoid lol.

Lithium linguine anyone?

Yeah, lithium batteries can and do bulge, expand, short, and sometimes, ignite...in certain situations.

But I'm curious, why is your propane oven useless for you?

I probably will use the propane oven again but must have been feeling sarcastic when I wrote the original thread post. I’ve been using electricity from the sun for almost all cooking. The electric oven is small for anything but a personal pizza or single person serving.
 I’m inspired now ....

My pet peeve has been wanting to reinvent RVs and campers. A oven I use once a year if that is not very useful to me. So using “the problem is the solution” thinking I started wondering what else it can be used for. I’ve read some folks use them for storage. I’d be much more content if I switch to accepting that RVs are never going to be ideal and focus on other things.  No vehicle is ideal for me anyway. I’m fed up with going a year or two then changing vehicles over and over. It’s cost a not very small fortune changing. And a lot of work.  The upside is experiencing a variety of vehicles.

I’ve changed RVs many, many times also. I do use my stove almost every day though. Just moved in to a new to us RV and we are still working and organizing and making it ours. Much to do.

I actually loved my little oven in my last travel trailer. I baked some pretty good dishes in it in pyrex. Even baked cookies and brownies too. I don't like microwaves as much, so did most my reheating on the stove top or in the oven. I've actually been dismayed to see them not being included in so many new rvs/trailers.

But it's a good idea, I mean you could even use it for cooking and recharging, the more multi purpose in the small spaces of a travel rig the better. I think we all rag on the manufacturers for a lot of what they do, but looking at it from their end.....they have to please as many people as possible with their limited configurations so i'd rather be on our end....finding the rig that fits the most of our needs and customizing it from there.

Thanks. I do look forward to cooking again. Been living on sandwiches for years while doing endless projects . I made bread with a bread machine for a while.
Enjoy your new RV Cammalu. But changing RVs is a lot of work isn’t it. Sounds like you know.
“Every road leads home”   I resonate with that name and concept. But “trying to please everybody and pleasing nobody” is what can happen with RVs.

Yes changing RVs IS a lot of work. We put so much into the one we had to make it really good for fulltiming and now we are starting over. Thankfully this one already has the solar at least.

I rarely use my propane oven except for storage but when I need it, I need it.
