They are really small, practically invisible. I have tried scratching my legs until they bleed but it doesn't seem to work...

Try a dab of Vick’s or use itch stuff. Dad used fingernail polish so they couldn’t breathe. They are very tiny. Live in grass. They like sweaty places on your skin. The itching is usually worse when you go to bed.... you can google search chiggers.
I'm not lost. I'm exploring.

That all sounds exactly like what I’m plagued with. I’m at the drugstore right now and am going to get Chigger killer. A good nights sleep will sure be welcome. Thanks all

The vet tells me it's possible your marshmallow munching friends are among those brush dwellers that can transport chiggers.
Calamine lotion helps the itch. Should be better in 2 days.

I feel for your discomfort. If you keep air from the bite the itch stops. Think petroleum jelly.

I was in the Bahamas one summer, surfing and that evening was covered with all sorts of super itchy red bumps, which soon after were covered with clear nail polish.

I've read since the nail polish does not suffocate the little sea lice bastards or chiggers, but it certainly felt like it worked, perhaps all that evaporating solvent in that toxic substance which stung that itch just felt so right, then ripping off the cured nail polish with asome hair follicles too, the next day was another orgasm of itch relief.

in Mozambique I awoke to a chain of bites across my whole middle, which faded late morning, but then reappeared the next morning in a different pattern.

i had some spray permethrin and hit up all the pillows/bedding in the Kombi. No more bites, no more itch.

The Locals said they swallowed whole, several cloves of garlic each day after a meal, which I started doing also, and had no more issues.

Sternwake you've been to Mocambique? Wow, small world. I loved Mozambique I was there in 96 99 and 2003. Great surfing and people with cheap beer. Chiggers we used to mark the start and stop lines and the guy with the longest drank for free. Canadians must taste like bacon as I never paid for a drink.

Still, have a few scars from the little bastards.

We basically lived in the Avenida hotel for months. They had bidets!!! And an awesome open-air rooftop restaurant. Great HAMburgers made with 100% pork as it is a HAM burger right!! LOL!

As for posting.

I try to add what I can when I can. I think more people can hit the thank you button. If you spend an hour crafting a story if someone reads it the least they can do is hit the THANKS button. If they don't like the story/ (speaking personally) or post (in General) then feel free to post a critique. Persoannly I have thick enough skin for any comments. Free entertainment to click thanks or as free as it gets. But if the audience can't make the effort why spend the time telling the story? Right? it takes a click. I click more times backspacing to an error!

My time in Mozambique was in '98, and only just across the border from RSA, and I now have regrets about exploring it more.

Actually that goes for the west coast of southern Africa too. This leg burner gem was not yet 'discovered' in '98:

As for the thanks button, I just can't do it. Its mere presence stresses me out, like some sort of obligation.

I know it how that 0 given looks next to my name, but I never comment or click the like button on FB either.

No offense, but I will stick with the sternwake theme which does not even have a thanks button.
