AC you are funny as hell but what draws ya to read is gold fever! LOL

Travelaround, Fisher is a great choice, and a 100 less....nice

I been checking out small slueces (how the hell does one spell sluice?) oh auto correct told me....smart damn computer I got! When out west I got visions of doing some prospecting.

I watched this video in Australia where they just parked, took out detectors and hit the fields on the side of the road in the middle of BFE. They just hit gold in the rocks on the ground as they strolled, I got visions of finding that out in the west also somewhere here.....I just wanna swing and find treasure LOL

Where I'll be prospecting - it is no secret - there's a Master List of Gold Mining Properties on the New 49ers website. At one time I was their webdesigner and I built that part of the site.

Thanks... can't hardly wait to get over to Treaurenet as it would be so much fun to go search for lost treasures! That kind of thing fascinates me. I need to get that Gold Bug thing! I read the most recent New 49'ers newsletter and he wrote that people found gold with their metal detectors. Maybe - the way to go, now that dredging is forbidden.

Side note on dredging. The whole CA dredging ban started in the town I was living in, Happy Camp, CA, because of a dispute between the New 49ers and the Karuk Tribe, which has its headquarters there. The Karuks sued to stop the dredging because they didn't like that gold prospectors were taking gold out of their river - the Klamath River, which runs through Happy Camp. Karuks won... dredging ended. Karuk lawsuit claimed miners were disturbing the fish.... but dredgers I've talked to claimed the fish enjoyed playing in the air bubbles and were not disturbed. There were already sections of the river protected from dredging so fish could spawn there.
Peace...

In Ontario, CA some ten or 20 years ago there was a hobo who wanted to die so he started digging his grave under an old oak tree somewhere north of Ontario airport. He dug up a treasure chest in the process. This treasure had been a part of the old wine country folk lore for many years. I read about it in the local newspaper years ago and wondered if he got to keep the money, I never heard though.

Cello I looked for that because it’s sounds like a great story to read. I can’t find it . If anyone comes across it please post a link.

The local newspaper is/was "The Daily Bulletin" previously it was "The Daily Report" in Ontario CA. It was always a legitimate local newspaper.
