Is everyone signing up for YouTube?

It doesn't seem to be every time, but I was going to ask a poster a question, and apparently you can't post anything until you sign up with YT.

I have Gmail, Google Chrome & my son set up something for me called Texas Chrome.  I guess that's why I have always been able to comment on youtube.  Never even thought about it.
