Well an update. Laid off due to the covid since March 16th so not going anywhere or doing much of anything.
Vehicle still the same, I’ve saved some cash by doing a bit of maintenance wrenching myself. Precious little ability here but YouTube has sure helped!
All that enabled me to save up and buy that slim mount Windy Nation $70 glass framed 100 watt panel, a cheap Renogy 10 amp PWM controller, the needed 12 gauge wire, a large $12 battery box, a usb/12v combo plug in, a 300 watt Bestek PSW inverter, some velcro and a battery (35 amp hour Mighty Max AGM). Total cost was appx $250 for hopefully a working house solar generator system.
Still would like a van of some sort, almost fell victim to the temptation of a 94’ E-150 mid top that had already been converted, no electricals had been done but he had stripped out the seats, built in a double bed, a working hand pump sink, some cabinets and had some needed mechanical updating. Paint was the typical very faded Ferd red of back in the day, it needed a complete clearcoat, but was dent free, for $4500.
I just couldn’t get mine sold and get his. Nobody around here (dealers) were buying used cars back in March when I saw it, so had to let the deal go. Heard later he sold it for $4K.
So I continue to part-time, help out with kids, putter in the lawn, and hope to get back to work by mid-June. Kinda’ glad to not have taken the leap and gone out in February like I had planned, my gym and coffeeshops all closed down due to covid and it would have totally sucked to have been stuck sleeping in the Edge without a means to keep clean, no wifi etc...
