Being creative, some of you have seen my morning hair, I know the effects of stress have on the creative mind. At times the only way to get out of a situation is to be creative, to take a page from another book. The one you've been using doesn't work or isn't working now and to continue to follow the instructions is the very definition of stupid. Doing the same thing and expecting different results.
The problem is while this is happening stress is happening. Cortisol is coursing through your veins and into your brain, swelling joints and shutting down higher brain function. The higher creative part. People move into a hyper stress state and that new level became the new normal. It only gets worse from here as the bodies autonomic systems try to adapt and increase the hormonal responses to compensate for additional stressors and biologically help you adapt.
This constant fight or flight state is uncomfortable and not how we were designed. Sometimes a little nip of brandy helps quell the swell and in extreme cases, it takes stronger medication. Prescribed or not Prescribed by a physician
A very smart friend of mine was in the same place. He was my security and driver in the Republic of Georgia. There is no work in Georgia and if you are x military it is worse. I laid out a plan for him to start and run a tour company for well-off American adventure tourists that liked wine and exotic travel. It wasn't a spark of brilliance or some easter egg like gift from a more brilliant entrepreneur. It was a simple idea from a brain not severely affected by stress. It worked and he is very successful now and I have a friend for life. It wasn't just the ability it was working without a handicap.
Sometimes the worse disabilities are the invisible ones. How cruel would someone be telling a paraplegic to just walk up the stupid stairs and quit making excuses! Picture that in a shopping mall. A cripple lying at the bottom of an escalator and someone telling them to just stand up, that they didn't even have to walk after standing!
The problem with perspective is if you haven't walked the mile you don't know what the mile is like.
