The people who didn’t make it, didn’t persevere. I have some first hand experience with this, helping people in dire straights turning their life around.
Unfortunately too many people think that they shouldn’t have to put much effort in. Society often tells them this too.
They think that their life is someone else’s responsibility, and when they get help, like I was giving, they think that means it’s my responsibility... but my responsibility only extends to my commitments, not someone else’s “needs”.
I’ve known a lot of people who were far more lucky than you who squandered it.
