I was an avid biker, rode 4500 miles one year averaged 17.6 mph. Before dissing any biker better read the rules of the road. Here you have the right away for the whole lane until you back up 3 cars. I rode on the left 1/3 of the lane to force cars to pass in the oncoming lane like they were suppose to. I wore a small mirror on a headband & just before the cage got to me I'd shoot to the right side of my lane. If you don't idiots will pass & run you off the road or hit you with mirror when meeting a car. In many cases it's like flying, the slower craft has the right away. I hate stupid ballons that have to take off right in the junction of both runways & take 30 minutes while I'm circling to land.
You know what my pet peeve was? When I drove almost 600 miles to the cabin we'd leave late sunday morning & half the trip was 2 lane & every single time I'd get behind a motorhome going 40-45mph & 30 cars afraid to pass several times. Either they were way under powered, overload or had an idiot driving. So it goes both ways.

If anyone wants an EverCross for $200 off ($699 as they went to $899. I paid $509 but it's a feet flat on the floor, no pedals. So far we love them, best choice we made.

It is funny though, "bikers" ride motorcycles, and "cyclists" ride bikes.
Then there are bikers riding trikes.

And those riders are often called, 'trikers'...
Yeah I didnt make up the terms, and in reality, they are in a way, kinda backwards...sorta...but they are what they are...the terms we use and typically agree on. Most of the time. I can tell you that years ago, many of us in the ham community worked communications for various bike-a-thons, triathlons, bicycle races, etc etc. You are assigned a location on the course, and you use your radio to report what you see as riders (who are numbered) pass by your position. You might be asked, for example, 'calling aid station 8, have you seen rider number 185 yet'. Or maybe you report something like, 'a large group of cyclists has just passed me, and I didn't get all the numbers', or whatever the report might be. But you never report that 'biker' number 185 just passed checkpoint 8...the term 'biker' was reserved for unknown motorcyclists that were in the traffic mix...and you might report that by saying 'we have a large group of bikers, repeat, motorcycle riders, passing thru Smith Park area' or something to that effect. On top of that many bicycle touring riders often refer to themselves as 'roadies'.......so you never know!

Roadies. Nah sorry my spandex encapsulated banana Hammock motherf&$&@s. Roadies drink beer and move heavy items for concerts.
Sometimes you might get Bikers being roadies. Rolling Stones concert in Vancouver Canada. Lol. But...the granola, doping we ride pedal bikes fast crew...sorry. It’s a thing for a small group of people. No one cares. It’s a “sport” only for a few. Same that like watching paint dry. Roided out mixed paint. Enough Grammar Nazi-ing for me. as much as the 'laws and rules' of HOW not to maim/kill cyclists, walkers and more on the road are real......remember always a physical body can't win ever against a 2 ton vehicle slamming them, even at a slower speed.
I quit bike riding my road and I quit horse riding my road with my horses cause 'so many drivers are on automatic pilot' and 'just don't see you' at all and I get that.....truly I do.....not worth the risk when the road becomes one of those higher speed traffic areas. I wish ALL OF AMERICA built every damn road in this country from the start with a 6 ft 'pedestrian, cyclist, horse and buggy even' lane LOL but yea that didn't go down
3 Stinkin' Badges, YARC, 3 Cat Ass Trophies , ROOIRIA Wannabe,(never happen) and still a Bisquit cause me soggy!
And 2 run down Flying Manure Spreaders!

I still ride a pedal bike and my method is still the same as when a kid.
WAY over as far to the right as I can be.. One day there was a "close one" . Making me realize where I'd be if a passing car just happened to find another coming the other direction as they insist on passing me even on a hill or curve.,...forcing them to go in the other lane seems .....not in my best interest . Good luck playing that game !
