Yes it is.

It is about 1/8" inner diameter, and returning into its groove, is a bit tricky, as one is fighting a spring that is pushing the impeller away from the bearings.  Even with the spring nullified  using a spacer under the impellers center and weight on the frame, a third hand would be beneficial.

The older plastic O ring design was much simpler to pry off ands push into place with two jeweler's screwdrivers..

And a fourth hand to hold the magnifying glass. Glad you got it back together.

Thanks, Its now mounted wired, and doing its job exhausting my ceiling. However the fan I bought, in 2007 as I liked the design, an Arctic Cool f12 open case fan with reverse rotation, failed within the last 24 hours. One of the resistors on the CB had a bunch of black corrosion and some of the traces along the edge of the circuit board were bubbling from corrosion, but I believe this fan simply lasted well beyond its expected service life.

i was using this fan as a feeder fan below the Silverstone fm121. when turned on it significantly improved the flow, and reduced the noise of the silverstone. I have a backup F12 with the 4th PWM speed control wire I'll likely wire up before the end of the month.

While I called myself a ventilation Nazi, after the Soup Nazi in Seinfeld, as in I take ventilation seriously, with all the recent fan failures, I now have cause to believe the very 'N' word itself is perhaps casting some bad juju over my air circulation fans.

Since the last update The ~3 year old VDO HVAC blower motor, its brushes seized in their holders, requiring that I take the motor apart and free them up. It was not designed to be opened up, but the SOB is now fully functional again. Looks like the brushes and holders got wet. Perhaps from the same downpour drive in which my windshild wiper motor's gears failed.

My Silverstone FM181, has now decided to not respond to the full speed range. I have not yet delved deeper into its new behavior, but am hoping the 10k ohm potentiometer itself is the root cause of the issue as i have another ready to go.

Is it possible to change thread title from V 'nazi' to 'ventilation enthusiast"

Perhaps my run of fan related failures will attenuate

Thanks

The fm181 potentiometer was the culprit. I do not think it was original pot provided with it as my solder heatshrink overkill was in evidence. Failure occurred within.

I replaced it with the 10k 0hm pot which came with the recently purchased fm121.

Full speed range returned and intake shroud tune up in progress. 50k ohm vs 10k..... idk.....it works....so be it.

The failed noctua ippc 3k rpm industrial fan is getting voltage. But the sniff test of hub electronics reveals magic smoke has done escaped. I'll email noctua again. See what comes of it.

Picload.org, Who has been hosting my photos since photobucket did their moneygrab, is shutting down. All photo links ive posted in this forum, will soon be gone so grab what you want while you can as i am not going through the efforts required to keep em live

Ha, I just logged in after a while away and saw “Ventilation Enthusiast” instead of VN. I wondered if you got PC’d, but then remembered this wasn’t the “other” forum.  This does sound more acceptable!

Sorry about the photo hosting issues.
