I figure my van is in the banner, so I'm obliged to say hello. This isn't much of an introduction really; same ol' jerk, new forum. I think my avatar may need some work however.

Welcome to reality

Life is not fair even for clowns.  There is always someone that is afraid of them.  The same for Santa Claus and Father Time.  Get over it.  

Many generations ago, many of my forefathers fought to make this country safe from the native residents.  What about their rights?  Then there were the French.  "WE" drove them out. The same with the Spanish, the English,  Canadians, Mexico,  No Irish Need Apply, No Italians Need Apply, Run off the Chinese, Lock the Japanese in camps  Blacks ~~~  Then we grew up.  According to the Constitution, everyone is equal.  There are laws to that effect.

Finally this country realized that it takes everyone to make things work.  My daughter had a 4th grade class in California with kids from nineteen different countries.  In a multi school competition, that class took more awards than any other class.  They all worked together.

While in College, I had a professor that would look for students that disliked each other.  He would assign them as work partners.  I was about 25 years older than everyone, so I could have one on one talks with the professors.  I asked "WHY?"  He told me that those that disagree the most, have the most to teach each other.  

Now back to the subject at hand.  PooPoo Heads and Big Meanies.

When I was in third grade, one day I was playing on the swings.  I would get as high as I could, then jump off. Then back on the swing and go again. Along comes the little red haired girl.  Angela...  She was watching me, so I went higher than ever to impress her.  Then I jumped.  She immediately grabbed the swing and just sat there spinning around. That was MY swing!  I had it first!  I told her I had it first.  She called me a PooPoo Head.      I called her a Big Meany.  For the next few minutes we yelled those words at each other.      Then the bell rang.  She hopped off the swing, gave me a big smile, and skipped off.   

Not everything is what it appears to be.  

Sit back, and ask yourself why this person evokes so much emotion?  Can you learn something from them?  I felt the fool for over reacting.

50 years later, I still have a thing for red hair girls.     I am still learning.

I'm here. Starting to get into short timer status, 6-8 months? At least it's not measured in years!

Every picture I upload seems to be followed by something along the lines of:

One I loaded yesterday doesn't even show anymore, just a line that says:

Yesterday, 08:49pm "/>

If you click on that line, the picture comes up, but it isn't obvious that you should do so.

And it doesn't seem to be affecting everyone, but it is affecting more than just me

Man, I can't tell you how many big forums I've joined that have had "the cool kids" splinter off into smaller forums.

Fortunately, it's often for the better. As Queen said, as long as the focus is on each other rather than hate/disgust/distain for the big board, things can be really lovely.

Umm....I'm honored to get the tap on the shoulder. Thanks, Cammie, guess that stinkin' badge is worth something after all. Not sure how I made the cut, but I'll try to pull my weight and post funny pictures in the humor thread.

I'm probably the n00biets n00b around here, so I don't really know any of you...well, except Queen as we've hung around together on another small board. But I am very much looking forward to getting to know y'all better. Looks like it'll be about a year and a half before I can sell the house and roll out of here a nomad. It's comforting to know I'll have some good friends here to help me work the kinks out and stare at a campfire with.

My vehicle's name is Putt. 



On another forum some joker thought it would be a good name because when I hit the road I could start a thread called "Putts' putts in Putt"...looking forward to starting that thread...here. Kinda torn about whether or not to start my build thread all over again here....or whether to maintain it over there. I know I'm going to like it better here, but step van builds are rarer than one would think and I like the exposure for others who might like to give it a go. In my mind a step van is the perfect nomadic vehicle...but I know that's just my mind.

I'm about half way done with Phase 1 of the build: Making it basically livable so I can sell my house and take early SS retirement. I'm 61 now. Phase 2 will be throwing lots more money at it for more PV and batts, radios, stereo, alarms, cameras, custom rear bumper to mount a motorbike (TW200), engine rebuild, blah, blah, $$$blah.

Probably won't be a big poster as I write for a job and posting often seems too much like work. But if you post some philosophical musing I'll end up jumping in with both feet. Sorry in advance.

Heard about the new place so I thought I'd check it out.

My iPhone takes great photos, but they are all to big.  What does everyone use to resize?
Also is there still free photo hosting anywhere?

Just wondering if there is a time limit on editing posts and if so how much time?  Don't  need to edit anything but just wondering for future posts.

We've noticed a seemingly random case of the forest green color scheme reverting to the default blue and white on some threads, sometimes.  There may also be formatting issues when that happens.  I'm trying to troubleshoot it.  It may have started with the install of the Tapatalk plug-in, and/or the "Thanks" plug-in.

So, if you're seeing this happen, please let me know in this thread what thread you were on... when it happened, and what operating system and browser you're using.  For the time being I'm leaving the plugins turned on and leaving the forest green/forest theme up to see if this is just a very occasional issue, or it's a major problem.
