What are you supposed to do... ?
#1
You can't buy regular incandescent light bulbs anymore.

I replaced the bulb in my porch light with a 60 LED (GE brand) almost a year ago (guaranteed ten years).

Two nights ago, my porch light was out.  Today, I removed the bulb, which was quite warm (outdoor temp = 50F).

Since the bulb was still warm, I screwed it into an outlet, but it didn't light.

A small label on the bulb says "Do not use in totally enclosed luminaires."

My porchlight is probably considered 'totally enclosed', very similar to this:  https://images.homedepot-static.com/prod...64_300.jpg

So...... if I can't use incandescent, and can't use LED, what CAN I use???

One of those spiral things? I hate those -- they're a nuisance to dispose of because of the mercury.

But if I have to, I have to. Can't have tall faceless shadows on my porch, knocking on the door.

Thanks.

You can still get incandescent **IF** they are special purpose bulbs.  I just got a couple of Full Spectrum bulbs from Amazon.

As posted, look at a dollar store. They still carry incandescent. I bought a 2 pack of 60 watt bulbs just a few months ago, just had to use 1 of them yesterday.

...said the short, chubby, faceless guy on the porch tapping the lightbulb.

No motion detector, lamp or light.

I went to the local hardware store, and the guy I asked said that if I wanted incandescent, I could get incandescent. he led me to a box of 12 100-watt incandescent bulbs for $15. I said I thought they weren't making them anymore, except for special uses, and he said they aren't making them, but there are still some lying around, and they can sell 'em if they got 'em, and they had some.

Thanks for all the info.

I bought the lights after reading her recommendation. I had one out and sitting on the kitchen counter after playing with it for awhile.

Forgot it was there until I went to get some water. Damn thing lit up... I jumped a foot. They work.
