My sister's friend thinks her junkie/psycho daughter is leaving her 3-year-old son home alone for hours at a time, like most of the day. They are new to the neighborhood and don't know anyone except the drunk next door. She would like to get some information that the police and/or Child Protective Services (CPS) would accept.
I was wondering if a game camera could do the job, but I don't know much about them. I think there are video types and single-frame types. The objective would be to get photographic evidence of the mother leaving w/o her son, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. (daylight). I'm thinking the video type might be best. And it should probably be the kind that grandma can monitor from her job.
Once this problem is solved (if it ever is), it is probably unlikely that she will have need for the unit again, so she isn't likely to want to spend $500 on it.
Any suggestions? Recommendations? Squirrelly ideas? All are welcome.
Thanks!

Russian dash camera. Small 12 volt or around 12 volts as Lada's are between 11.5 and 14.1 volts. Set it in a cheap box with a battery and start recording on a loop. Go over after the phone doesn't pick up and retrieve. Don't know what Dash cameras go for here but someone will buy it when you're done with it. Probably a Russian.

A small motion sensitive camera with daylight/nighttime capabilities depending on the hours she wants to monitor.
Walmart and Amazon are good places to check out. Just find one she can monitor by phone and is concealable. One with sa decent resolution 720 or 1080 are preferable if the pictures are going to be used in court.

That looks pretty good, but I don't see that it can be monitored off-site. The grandmother works an hour from home. She needs to be able to see the daughter leave w/o the toddler so she can call the police and have them find the little boy by himself. Does the ability to do this really ramp up the cost?
