I went in to the VA this morning for my blood test, after signing in I parked my scooter next to another man on his scooter. We were both there for the Protime test and struck up a conversation.
He’s having his replacement next month and said he was bit apprehensive because his Dr. wasn’t there any more. I asked him who his Dr was and he was seeing the same Dr as me. I asked him if the Doc had transferred, he was the lead MD in cardio-version. He said “ no” , he ,The Dr. , had a full cardiac arrest while having his first consult of the day.
Live each day like it’s your last.

Gunny,
Life is too short, that's why I look at life in a whole new way. Especially now seeing how my parents lived their lives and died. All they did was work hard skimp and save each penny to make sure we had everything we wanted and needed whilst growing up. My mother whilst dying with cancer still tried to fix her home up so as to leave it maintenance free for my brother and i to live in. I won't go into the details as the heart break is still raw. What they should have done was retire early, travel and enjoy life.
I want to be able to enjoy my life and see the world. Ok maybe not so much the world but at least do some traveling and meet new people. I want to both have my life enriched by others as well as to enrich someone else's life too.

Same here Anna. It’s very raw right now.
I'm not lost. I'm exploring.

Doctors are human, too, and just as mortal as we are. We have an okay primary care doctor now, but we know we need to be looking for his replacement, because he's too close to retirement age himself. And I wouldn't blame him if he did retire as soon as he can--during all the mess and new regulations that came in the last few years, he had to give up having his own practice and join a large group run by one of the hospital chains.

Yes, he died. Massive coronary. I would guess his age about 45-50. He was staff at University of Texas Med School. The VA is part of their teaching hospitals.
I haven’t looked up his obituary yet.

He died two years ago. I deal with the nurse practitioner mostly.

I suppose. He wanted me participate in one of his studies a few years back and got mad when I said no.
Good at what he did and saved some Vets lives.

Yeah, I'm living each day. My late husband died at 55 and my dad at 61. I just turned 58 last week and it is starting to be a morbid cause for celebration. In our family, we always go out to dinner for any person's birthday. And the toast is always "L'chaim!" (To Life!). I can't think of a better one. So, I live each day like my last, try to be a good person (not too successful at that) and hope that I have many more happy, "healthy enough" days. And I pray that my sons do the same.
