Joe, Georgie and I traveled down parts of route 66 summer of 2020. We grabbed tourist maps of route 66 and stopped at everything and anything. We had a ton of fun.

We also got off I-40 in Oklahoma for a good ways. We spotted a yard full of antique cars and trucks on a different road and pulled into someone's yard. We were there for 3 hours. They showed us the most amazing things. I'm not exactly sure where it was. It was not on route 66. I'll search and see if I can find the road then add it on.

I think it was between ufaula and norman, ok, Route 9 I think. South side of the road. We made good travel time but we go kind of slow so we can do emergency U turns.

Lady Bird Johnson planted wild flowers along a lot of roads and yes we stopped and looked.

We also look for cool mail boxes. You don't see any on interstate routes.

Georgie drove a truck. She said she knew there were cool places but could never stop. I love traveling with her. We do lots of cell phone conversations that go, " did you see that sign that said..." Then we do a U turn and go check it out. Lots to see and places to stop. Kick a few cans, smell some road side flowers, throw a stone in some water, be a pilgrim.. enjoy the journey. Chill... tourists go from destination to destination as quick as they can. Google a park near me. Some have websites... lots to explore. Find joy in the journey. Some small towns have really cool brick work or iron work. Some are ssssoooooo generic. Look for character.... Well... before it is torn down and replaced by a box store. Old court houses can be cool. Historic sites. I love finding characters too...like the folks with the antique cars....
