It'll be fun to see what you go with! I'm probably willing to spend the extra for a US based product even though I'm really a cheapskate. Something plastic made in China isn't at the top of my list. Of course, if you get one and prove me wrong, well then I'll save a couple hundred bucks ;-)

In actually the drag effect more than offsets the wind power generated. In other words.. you burn more gas dragging it than you recover in amps from the windmill

The question of charge controller is important. Lithium is never put into float. Constant voltage, constant current or nothing at all.
Wonder if there folks have partnered with any company for charge controllers.
