Costco
#1
I'm going to put this here because I'm still trying to maneuver the forum. I wonder how this would work in an RV environment. I know that Costco is cheap when the items are purchased in bulk. I also know that there is a membership fee involved. What I don't know is where the Costco places are located in respect to camping grounds. And how RV folks feel about get-togethers in a Costco location and chipping in equally for bulk items and divided equally would this idea not save members a lot of money? and most importantly would it work? We would bulk buy things like
Toilet paper
Washing detergent
Soap
Canned foods
Dry foods
Biscuits
Sweets
or anything with a long shelve life that will sustain us for a few weeks or months while we're on the road.

Any thoughts and or ideas?

Pretty great idea! Managing to get together at the same Costco might be interesting!

Sounds do-able .
I done this a couple of times staying in a campground for the winter...
It might be a little harder to organize boondocking but wouldn't hurt to try anywhere.
stay tuned

Hello Anna,  Welcome too.  I've been off my game for a few weeks, so I don't remember if i've said Hello.

I think this is a good idea.  Even though I'm alone I still seem to buy in bulk!  My favorites are BOGO + a coupon.  I like Publix because items ring up as a single @ 1/2 price so each can also have coupon discount too.  My best buys were Vlassic pickles at BOGO + coupons = 50cents per jar.  Dial soap 3 bar packs BOGO + coupons = 11 or 12 cents per 3 bar pack.  I just use the coupons in the store or in a stores sale paper.

I have noticed that at some bulk stores the price can be higher at times than smaller stores sale prices.

P.S. If I'm around you can count me in! TJB

Texjbird,

For sure we'll add you in, no probs there. It would be a pleasure.

Originally, Mo and I were doing our shopping at the Walmart store up in Festus when we were living in his trailer. I found that the prices there were very expensive. So we went in search for a cheaper alternative and found the dollar general stores. Our shopping there was cut in half and that also included the meat as well. Sure it doesn't have as much variety as Walmart does but heck it's so much cheaper and has always got sales here and there. P.S I have to laugh because you know how most women love to shop? well, mine is groceries and I drive Mo crazy because I take hours in the supermarket. While he just likes to go in get what he needs then get out again. Me I check the specials and like to buy whats on sale.

Smile Anna my husband was the same way. He didn't like to hang about while I shopped.  Gun stores and boat stores and bait shops didn't count.  At least I knew where to find him.

Once he was fussing about what I spent on groceries and said I needed to stop spending so much.  About that time on All In The Family, Archie told Edith "A tounge sandwich!!  I'm not eating anything that came out of a cows mouth!  Fix me a egg sandwich!"
I never knew beef tounge was so cheap.  This was around 1974 or '75. Those things are a PITA as far as I'm concerned.

Boil 'em, cool 'em, skin 'em, slice or dice AND THEN they are ready for a recipe.  I made beef stew and he WOULDN"T EVEN TASTE IT!  Not only that!  Our son who was 3 or 4 turned his little pug nose up at it too.  "No Mama, Papa said NO".  I made sure they wouldn't even taste it  Then I opened the back door and there went the flying cows tounge with my Grandmas favorite cooking pot that I had inherited in '71.  I was so mad I left it out there for 2wks.
Since we ate supper around 4am at least we didn't put on a show for the neighbors Big Grin

For some unknown reason he started following me around in the grocery store.

Men, ya gotta luv'em.  Under special circumstances we can shoot'em.

You can ask anyone here how I know this or you can read the YARC thread on CRVL.
