Hello, long, long time stalker.  I got inspired through the years. Then got afraid, real afraid.

will need to make a decision by late summer. House tax too high, maintenance is great,

health is ???  money is running out.

Any one from or around San Antonio ??

I'm younger than I sound....LOL

That's all for now.

Heya Sonder
Welcome
I spent a winter of '81 in SA installing kitchens on my first big road trip before my dream job got going.
And I camped in Hondo at the Escapees park in '05.
Does that count ?
Obviously you have good taste in forums cuz you chose us !LOL
And I know what you mean about getting scared.
I've been scared to live in a house for over fifty years !
It's true I tell ya !

How about trying it out ? Get a little taste.
Rent a uhaul van and spend a weekend driving and staying in rest areas or a campground ? Maybe a nice spot down by a river ?  It wouldn't cost too much.
Highly survivable . And if you don't like your neighbors or the view out the windshield ,,,turn the key and go someplace else.
If you need income and wonder about the logistics of doing it living in a van or RV check out workamping.

Got any questions ?  We got answers . (And they're better than the ones at Radio Shack....)
stay tuned

Welcome, officially from the NOMAD Chapter. Fear is normal and the starting rope. Everything you want is just on the other side of it.

I was afraid, just recently I wouldn’t get a special visa that allows me to stay for a year. Was scheduled to get it on the 28th, 29 day came and I am thinking should I stay or should I go? 30 days is the max and then I’ve got to be out by midnight or face arrest on departure! Contact called at three and said go pick it up at immigration.

Purification of motives and luck usually follows. Welcome to the forum. We have some great people here. I have physically witnessed people willing to tow a member from California to Past you Texas. So fear is the minds killer as we were all taught in Dune. Get out and go. You’re still in the big crib of the USA.

Health issues become a problem for many of us as we get to the geriatric border !
Welcome to that club too !

So , the big decision coming up huh ?
Might as well start planning JIC you decide to go for the brass ring ?

Have you thought about van , rv , box truck , step van or a pickup with a slide in ?
Full time , part time , sell the house , keep the house ,?
After summering in SA probably ,  at least want to travel to cooler climes part of the year I'd guess.
Lead acid , lithium or something in between like AGM ?
Solar , Solar generator , just drive a lot and alternator charging ?
Planning ahead of time will get you ahead of the game when you're gearing up.

Just call it a hobby  for now.

"Analysis Paralysis"  can delay launch day indefinitely . Having a plan A and B ahead of time is the way forward...
stay tuned

(04-09-2023, 11:50 PM)Sonder  Hello, I apologize for the late response.I don't want to miss lead anyone. I will be on and off again. rvpoppey I have been the rv. camp ground in Hondo Texas. Did not stop in,it's been a while. It seemed like ?? the membership needed to be recommended by anotherEscapee ? I'll have to look into that again. When I was in my twenties I lived in an RV. park here called Circle B. It was great. The original owner (the wife)  was still living. She had the beginning stages of Alzheimer orDementia. was soo sad watching her over a few years.I grew up tent camping often.I guess it's the psychological ?  part that's making me hesitate.... I've tried so hard tohave what I have. It feels like giving up or giving in ..?But if I wait too much longer the taxman cometh. and I'll really be in trouble.I've been dealing with a condition called Transverse Myelitis caused sever neuropthyfrom my waist down. I look good(purty) ,but I'm being tortured and it's working on mysanity.Any way wanted to be in communication with you(all)Thank you for listening Wrote:
