Tip: Keeping Freezer Cold by FILLING-IT
#11
Haters going to hate and brother sister issues...well point to a pair that don’t have issues.

My sister is the same way she always leaves the fridge door open while cooking and pulling products to go into her concoctions. She is a fabulous cook and a real foodie. But now she has twin sub zeros I call them the Jeffrey Dhalmer specials. So...money can solve behavioral issues. Lol! Sarcasm dripping and not to take away from your valid point. Just different floats.

My reference was to chest style or drawer style fridges. Not upright RV units. In my builds the first thing to get changed was three way fridges and uprights. To avoid propane issues, level, off while in transit, ventilation: and frozen waterfall effect. That and many of the cheap RV style units have a one through five knob that doesn’t take ambient temp into the equation. So at sea level and 20 degree heat at the Farmers Market food temp setting is good. Go up in elevation and get low temps and shit freezes up. A super common complaint in Four Wheel Camper models.

The issue with chest models, even good ones with ice makers and baskets is finding shit, and temp variations top to bottom. So I use water bottles to organize the space for these issues.

If used as a freezer, I had an 80liter in the boat. It would be interesting to do a test. I Used to fill it with a few frozen steaks and a roast then three 40’s of vodka and the rest 3/4 filled water bottles. Plugged into the dock everything would freeze. In the ocean As the salmon was caught and the days progressed, the meat would be cooked and the water would be replaced by fresh caught salmon. No science level tests were done. It seemed the larger thermal mass already frozen in the freezer helped the compressor maintain temperatures on hot summer days. But this could be bullshit psychoacoustic type observations.

A fun way I fill my freezer is to freeze ice with birdseed in a ring like you cook a cake or a jello mold. The ring can be hung like a wreath or put on the ground. My grand kids love it when I drop one off.
I'm not lost. I'm exploring.
