Fortunately, I had previously purchased a Black and Decker set of various screwdriver types that included various square sizes.

It is possible to use a small 1/8" minus (-) head screwdriver diagonally in a S2.

A Japanese dude, that I had worked with, referred to Phillips as plus (+) screwdrivers and the flat ones as minus (-) screwdrivers.

"A Robertson, also known as a square or Scrulox screw drive is specified as ANSI Type III Square Center and has a square-shaped socket in the screw head and a square protrusion on the tool. Both the tool and the socket have a slight taper."  Taken from "list of screw drives - Wikipedia"

IMHO they definitely work better than "Phillips" or the dreaded slotted screw.

Square head screws were our best sellers then our suppiers couldn't get them but I'd choose them anyday but nut the chinese as the heads popped off just before being flush. Things may have changed but the canadian GRS were the best then.

Yes it's either cheap phillips bits that strip, cheap chinese junk metal screws that strip or twist the heads off or something else. I've rounded off more drywall screwheads (that never were intended for framing) than I can count. Course' that's me being cheap as opposed to buying a $12 box of deck screws when building something.
