I played with my brother in laws shoebox punch card box. Normally these stacks did little more than instal Lunar Lander or print a picture on a dot matrix. Not this one. It was for EDP control strategies; His doctoral project at UCLA.... That was not a good thing. I think I was 13. LOL! In my final days of government service I was tagging along at a foreign summit on geekery. CSIS minister and a few other of our less known agencies were in attendance. Final meet and greet kind of thing and we are all wearing name tags with our flag represented. A guest presenter walks by, stops, oddly. This draws my attention. He turns and says; "Thats an odd name from a smaller population. Did you ever get my early version of Red Hat to run on that Mac clone box of yours?" He shakes my hand and tell him I did. "Nice to finally meet you."
"You as well."
"This is XXX XXXXXXXXXX our Minister of XXX XXXX XXXX" Remembering my manners and protocol.
'Yeah, we met already." He turned, not shaking the Ministers hand, and walked away to the quieter areas on the hall.
The Minister had a ton of questions. None of my answers pleased him. Such was my life... LOL!
Before I went into the Military my BBS WDC2021 had over 140 members. Before the white/black hat distinction. Many foreign members USA and Europe. If you could speak French or English you were in. I doubt 10 percent have addresses you could find today, or an alphabet agency would let you find. LOL!
I missed my calling and did my service... I often wonder what might have been had I not... That would have been an interesting ride for sure. But like anything computer/tech based if you don't practice and stay current your old in a weekend. My old friend Chris Taylor MS/Gas Powered Games got free and now makes clay pots. LOL!
Your doing great it is running well!! Thanks!!
