I never met Spottie but I know this.
Danes are almost always mellow giants.
(They know who's the boss and don't have anything to prove. And that's a good thing. !)
But kinda like Cyndi Lauper , they just want to have fun......be good buddy for a small pooch.

Was I close ?
stay tuned

I am very very sorry for your loss.  Next to some family members I think the death of a beloved pet is one of the worst losses we have to deal with.

My sister's Harlequin great Dane was 14 when he passed away.  Somewhere there's a picture of him standing with his front paws draped over her shoulders and his head is about a foot and a half higher than hers.   She's only five foot three.  He didn't always accept strangers well brought into the house or into his yard so he was often put up in a bedroom when I went over.  One time somebody forgot to put him up.  Hebwalked out in the yard walked up to me sniffed me  & probably thought what a funny looking Chihuahua and set right down at my feet HOOCH and I never had a bit of problems

Hi Cello, So very sorry for your loss. Glad his passing was painless at the end, that's the best we can hope for as pet owners when the time comes. May the many good memories help ease your pains as the days move forward.

I'me very sorry he passed. It sure leaves a hole doesn't it. I lost my best griend Annie a 4yo long hair mostly black german shepard. I sleep in a recliner & she slept beside me & was just dead one morning so she did go in peace. I still miss her every day. God Bless!

My Dal was 16 when I lost her.
She's been gone longer than that now , since 1993.
I framed a life size pic for the little wall I have and can talk to her all I want.
Not the same ,,,but it helps.
Remember the joy he brought into your life.
stay tuned

yep. And like Doug said, Spottie sure loved all the attention he got from the women.

Heron/Liz had given him a large piece of green carpet the first time he visited Quartzsite. He always used it at every campsite and he loved it. He got to spend his last few days on it.

I'm one of the lucky ones. I got to meet Spottie.
How are you going to meet women now that he's gone?
I'm thinking he's left you with a great big Spottie sized hole in your heart.
Peace
I'm not lost. I'm exploring.

Oh, Steve, I'm so sorry. What a great big lovely sweetie pie he was. I wanted him to run away with us, but he said no. I'm so sorry to have missed him this year. I will keep missing him.
