Yes, it's amazing how the catalytic heater fogs up windows in mere minutes- If even that.
It's combusting inside the van.

The stove draws air from the plenum between the hood and bottom of windshield*- the vehicle's HVAC system is wide open to the outside- then combusts it in a metal box.

Yes, wood is hard to find in the desert, downtown, oceanic voyages and the arctic tundra!
Hopefully no one here buys a wood stove for their trans pacific sailing trip.

I walked, literally no more than 20 ft to gather wood for the test firing.
In an hour I could easily cut enough dry wood to heat the van and the shed all winter.


* Old Minnesota vehicles have many more openings to the outside
Sometimes dweller in 237k miles '07 Grand C-van w/ a solar powered fridge and not much else
