* Maybe all this power stuff isn’t always so needed. *
True dat. I'm glad I went ended up with a manual lid. It did however cost me a few coins during the whole process but that's the price for admission I suppose.

had the 7000 auto unit since 2016, no problems at all, I'm in Texas so it's pretty warm, I leave mine on full auto most of the time with my opening "set" temperature at 78.
So if the inside temp reaches 78 it opens and the fan turns on when the van is parked, when I start driving with A/C running it will close at 77, as Abnorn mentioned I have driven and do drive with it fully open even at freeway speeds no problem with the duel arm actuator being very sturdy.
there is also a mode you can run the with the vent closed like a ceiling fan.
Only drawback I have experienced has been in very heavy wind blown rain a little has got in, regular rain no problem. Also the remote has to be pretty close to the unit to work, so in my extended Transit from the drivers seat I cannot just hit a button to operate whilst driving for example, if stationary i can turn around with the remote close the floor to work.
