What size DC circuit breaker do I need for a 160 Watt solar panel?

Good point. Don’t use a breaker as a everyday switch. That’s a well known no-no. They are for servicing and testing.  I’m not an engineer but we have not had a breaker weld shut yet and have used hundreds in solar energy systems for over 30 years. 12 volts is fairly low potential.  As Jim mentioned place a DC rated switch in the circuit with the fuse or breaker if it’s a everyday or frequent thing.

I've never seen one weld itself together but have seen many that were pitted and/or carboned up reducing the breaker rating sometimes to zero. Ever notice breaker that seems to trip much easier than before ?????
stay tuned

I’ve only seen one breaker that trips at less current than it’s rated for.
There are some nice DC breakers available out there but the enclosures can be spendy. And they usually need to be ordered. I have the Midnite Solar breaker made in S. Africa on my cargo trailer. But Sq. D Type QO breakers are cheap and commonly available.
