Like online video games?
#1
I just got my old Sega Genesis system up and running after it's been sitting in a tote in a storage barn for years.  Needed a new power supply and I patched the old RF adapter back together so it sorta works with a new one on the way, maybe delivered in a day or so.  I have an old tube type 17" television I'm using for it so I'm thinking its pretty cool.  Anyway I was looking for different games I could get beyond the 14 I have already and discovered a very old pc game from in the way back times on 5 1/4" floppys was put on a Sega cartridge.  Rare and somewhat expensive game called Starflight.  So after looking around here and there for that game and searching for "like" games I ran across something that, although it's been out for a few years, I never heard about it.  Not really a gamer so unless you run in those circles you really don't know whats out there.  Well what did I find....????  A MMORPG called Elite Dangerous.  Someone has taken the very basics of Starflight and turned it into something incredible.  https://www.elitedangerous.com/  There are a bunch of YT videos about the game and from the looks of it, it takes some time to learn how to immerse yourself into the game.  Takes a powerful gaming system to install it too so for now it is out of the question for me but dang.  If you get a chance, check out some of the YT videos folks have made about it.

I built a custom gaming PC for the truck...top performance in a micro-ITX case with low (relative) power draw.
Recently I've been playing Galactic Civilizations III...great 4x game. The problem with mmorpg games, and I've played a number of them, is that having a high-speed internet connection is pretty much a necessity and it'll chew through mobile hotspot data fast. So while I do have an unlimited ATT mobile LTE plan, it still comes back to speed...slow internet equates to what gamers call "lag" ...and in anything involving real-time action, this mean you die all the time... Thanks for the blast from the past, Mo! Smile
That was the 2nd game I ever bought (after MS Flight Sim), after hearing lots of (justified) hype about it.
EA was running a two-for-one deal, so I also got "Bard's Tale III", which has the distinction of being the first file format I hacked, after an annoying death lost me the opportunity to get some kewl item, and I decided I wanted to know what all the possible items were (I didn't cheat, just "looked" at 'em all).

Nowadays, I hack malware/etc, to exterminate it. Smile
I get the same positive feedback as I used to get from gaming, though no kewl visuals. Gotta fix that some day. Smile
Wish I had good graphics skilz. Just thinkin' out loud. Wink
