Road Pets vs. Road Rodents (or pests)
#1
Well, I've been on the road for 13 yrs. For the last 8 years I have had one and then two cats. Strays found along the way as kittens.
They are all grown up now. The younger one I swear has mental issues. And the other is about as lazy and large as they come. Both piss me off and make me laugh equally in many ways.
I have seen evidence of a mouse in my rig for 6 months randomly. Through 4 States. One would think in a camper with two cats this would not be a problem. Well, FINALLY after all this time my little "special" kitty got the little s.o.b. cornered behind a glass cutting board right by my desk/table. Where I quickly squashed it. Where was  the fat cat in all this ...you guessed it....sleeping using my clean towel on the bed for a pillow.
Hope everyone will share their pest, rodents, or pests (even if it's a human one) stories as well.

The "mouser" that took 6 Months to corner it....LOL

And here is where the other kitty was.. using my clean towel on bed for a pillow. Never lifted a paw. Grrrr ! LOL

This the only mouse big kitty has ever been seen near. And that's only cause I dropped it by her. She is actually waiting on the next round of treats.

This is the normal position of the big kitty...

While not on the road, I had a terrible mouse problem this year at home. I caught and dispatched over 16 of the little suckers. And it happened right after I bought a big rolling toolbox at Home Depot. They dug it out of the back stockroom and it was still in the cardboard box when I brought it in to set up. Can't help but wonder if that box was full of mice!?

Then two weeks ago, I bought all the stove pipe I need to install my wood stove and the local distributor dug it all out of a rear shed on their lot. A few nights later I'm seeing mouse droppings everywhere.

Not sure if it's coincidence or I'm that unlucky to get mice every time I buy something that comes in a cardboard box?!

I'm not going to look it up...but I wonder which makes babies faster and more of them..Rabbits or Mice? LOL .  My rig might as well be cardboard. I can't wait to get my bus done !!

Haha, I quickly googled it and it looks like mice, but I didn't click on any of the search results, just read the headings quickly so it's not very scientific.

They both have a shitty job, being a food source for all those higher on the food chain.

My story is a cute one. When Ron and I were living at the Elvin's house the people next door moved out and left their cat behind. Ron would buy it cat food and milk and feed it twice a day then the cat got pregnant and had her kittens in the middle of winter someplace but still kept coming over for her meals and drink. One day it was pouring heavily and was sort of flooding the yards, i was inside on the computer when i herd a kitten meow or cry for help. When i got to the back door there was a kitten drenched in water and shivering from the storm. I went over and picked it u,p then the mother cat came back with another, then another, all up she brought over six baby kittens. Ron being the person that he is got a storage box cut an opening into it and placed two of my new bath towels in it for the cat and her babies. We continued to feed them till such time they reached six weeks old and then we called the animal control to come collect them as we couldn't keep them while we were moving house. I advertised them on facebook but no-one wanted them because they were feral. The moral of the story was that the cat trusted Ron enough to bring her brood over to feed and keep safe. So cute.

Never trust a person that cats do not like.

One hard but true lesson to I have learned over 60 years.
Compared to parenting, Cat herding is less complicated

That is a cute story Anna !! Thank you for sharing ! Made me smile.

Speaking of pets...I found me a new dog that I know will get along with my two cats and maybe even the dog could also work as a scratching post for them. Maybe I even let it ride on Top of the bus so it would be outta sight outta mind and I wouldn't have to worry about feeding it, cleaning up after it, or watering it. Heck it looks like it's used to not having food already and starving to death.  Want to see a picture of it Anna?
