Couple missing in socal desert

Wow, quite the tale... I also had an incident, cross-country skiing some 35 years ago in Colorado with my brother and a couple other guys. We started out on skis in 30 degree weather and as the sun warmed up we just sank in the drifts up to our waists. It took hours to slog out, I never felt worse or more out of my element in my life. Actually thought I wasnt going to get back.

Of course that was pre-cell phone days but some more common sense and reading a weather forecast could have helped...
