You just wanted to know how many sets of HP's Putts could wear and I just saw his pic answering !

Yeah those are them I think I called zr1' or R1's I had to go and look as I had boxed them. Not mine they came with the Black Magic Designs Advanced panel and at 30 grand, and the only one in Russia, very rare.

One sided cable...screws in place. They're okay, probably just makes the top 10 of $300ish sealed headphones.

My Turtle Beach cans are like 300 bucks I think, perhaps less. They are a little bass heavy, not much, (Nothing like beats) but the Sonys don't sound three times as good...Not to my shredded ears anyway.

It's weird, I don't review Turtle Beach because they're gamer headphones, and that's just not a market I'm in. It's covered by reviewers from that side. But I have heard them at show and always thought they were pretty good compared to other gamer cans I've heard. Talk to one of their engineers at length and they're doing some interesting stuff in virtual audio on headphones.

The Black Magic Product is a dream and super fast.

Woah. That gadget looks super cool. So you're a video editor? I help build a video studio once. Um...Umatics and two inch helical scan reel-to-reels, I think? I was just a grunt. All I remember really is how friggen tweaky it was...aligning system clocks and shit. Really complicated. Digital makes things sooo much easier it seems to me.

No kidding. Soon as I'm out of my niche, I'm just another on looker. Ask me about which desk top speakers are good. I got nothing, really.

Best ever headphones?

I'd like to hear the answer to that, and I'm curious about the opinions from the Audiophiles here. I did a bit of research awhile back and ended up with a set of Audio-Technica studio monitor headphones, kicking my Sony ones into the background. They both sound great to me, and while neither set is at the top, they both got top rating for the money. Less than $200, I think. I'd have to find the boxes for the model numbers.

I'd like to hear the answer to that, and I'm curious about the opinions from the Audiophiles here.

It's like "what's the best vehicle for me as a nomad?" There's no one answer.

What's your budget? Are you going to wear them on an airplane? Do you need to drive them from a phone? Too many variables.

But, since you asked, If I had to recommend a no-holds-barred headphone for most people willing to part with big money, I'd say the Mr Speakers Aeon planar magnetic at $799.



Weird looking but really comfortable. Sealed, so you can listen in a relatively noisy environment. Really neutral with a kickin' bass. But, inefficient, so almost not loud enough on a phone. Price/performance WAY better than ANYTHING more expensive.

She Who Must Be Obeyed suggests we split all this into a new thread and actually , I think we should  !

I don't know how much good it will do going forward (we both have very niche expertise) and as Ears has mentioned straying too far in any direction and our words of inspiration will surely be few indeed !
How many of you really understood all of what we were saying?
Hell , it took me many years to get to the point I'm at right now and I'm sure the same applies to Putts,,,errrrr Ears.

But just so the info (was all this actually info ?) so far will be much easier to search for and find!

We'll try to be of help if anyone really needs directions in the rough waters that is pro audio or discriminating listening..

Don't even ask us how to destroy your hearing with a killer bass box car stereo though because all we will say is don't do it ,,,,, trust me I know the real world consequences.......
Oh and Ballenxj I "ain't" no audiophile Road Warrior Pro Edition is more like it.
But Ears may fit that bill..............

Meh, if it comes up again in a serious way I'll start a thread. 'Til then most here saw it so it's prolly good. I'm done talking about headphones for the moment anyway...too close to work for me to want to do a deep dive.  Anybody who's got serious questions can feel free to PM me.
