A home converted electric car
#29
I have seen three Hydrogen generators installed and working on sailboats. Runs a few cubic meters of fridges and some electronics critical to sailing. Main power is still Solar and generator. But this is a backup long-term set and forget system for periods of no sun and automated. You can rig an autostart on a generator but making it safe to work via Ai is expensive and not skookum or boat smart. The small hydrogen generator is quite safe and nearly silent. Not great efficiency numbers and yes methanol is explosive but in the system, it is very safe.

The above links were for a system that pulls CO2 from atmospheric gases kind of like they do now for Liquid Oxygen or Liquid Nitrogen harvesting and converts it into a fuel that can be re-burned in commercially available vehicles. Not carbon Negative but closer to carbon neutral than many alternatives. I think, and am betting all my magic beans, this technology takes off and goes into production. Or alternatively gets bought by a huge company for an obscene amount of money and gets shelved alongside fission generators. I don't have children and the catastrophic period doesn't start till I'll be pooping in diapers and drooling on my nappy! I am such a cynic...
