Sometimes I find myself just walking away from conversations.  I cuss....just not every other word.   Some conversations are things I  don't want to hear, cussing or not.  So I just leave.  I cannot disscus a conversation that I have no knowledge of.  Or get drawn into a " He said that she said that she heard you say.........etc."

FELLAS I REALLY DON'T CARE HOW MANY TIMES YOU BANGED YOUR BUDDYS OL' LADY WHEN HE WAS OUT OF TOWN.  JUST SAYIN'.  Maybe you should lower yore voices.......Or not.  I've already left.

I'm also a firm believer in freedom of speech.  As well as the freedom to choose to not to converse  with someone or hear their opinion.  Or to even agree with the other person.  How boring would it be if we all lived in Stepford Town?

My Grandma was something else.  She was born in 1902.  She and Papa adopted me when I was 3 weeks old. They raised me as my parents.  That is what I knew until my teen years, that's when someone let the cat out of the bag.

We were in trouble when we came home with certain "new" words and innocently either used them or asked what they meant.  Some were O.K..  With others I had my mouth washed out with a bar of green Palmolive bath soap soooooo many times that never one time in my life have I bought GREEN bar soap.  Mama was a expert with it.  Lather that soap all up, and you better not fuss and fight her.  Her grip must have been  like the "Lady Wrestler" Papa always refered to when she questioned his whereabouts.  If she ever had to put you in a headlock   it truly was all over but the crying!

Ironically as I grew up and she aged she started using words that were way more colorful than any I'd brought home.  I wonder where she learned those?   Maybe being raised on a farm and exposed to the cycle of life and breeding animals,  or her rowdy older 4 brothers had something to do with her vocabulary?  Maybe she just liked to cuss?  We often attended church services 3 times a week, either at the Church Of Christ or Baptist Church.   I never in my life heard her make a slip in her speech in public.  That amazes me to this day.

Me?   Even though I'm a Granny of 8  I still sometimes think a cuss word just seems to fit better than a "nice" word to
 explain the way I feel about a certain situation. 

I moniter myself around children especially.  I've heard children say things to their parents that is just wrong.  Then I consider where they probably learned it and walk away.  

Years ago at a good friends house  I heard a 17yr tell his Daddy to go F*** himself.  This kid was 6ft 2in and about 340lbs.  The next thing I know he's headed my way yellin' " HIde me Miss Jewells!  HIDE ME! DADDYS GONNA KILL ME!! "  Now his Daddy is no light weight either.  I stepped to the side and said " You're too big to hide behind me.  YA Better run on out the back door and hope your Daddy gets tired soon".  These fellas are just too big for me to get between.  I've known both his parents since 1981.  His Mom passed away several years ago and he had a hard time dealing with it.  I still wasn't participating in that rodeo!

All of us Grannies were young once,  some cuss and some don't.  Just like other folks.  We're just older
I do try to watch my language out in public.....doesn't always work.

 I really dislike and don't use slang words for body parts and the constant use of THE F WORD!   OH NO !  I almost said IT!
  I reckon I'm a fixin' to faint!  Queenie get the d**n smelling salts!!!
