Fiona, The Great Rodent Hunter.
#1
I sit in the vets office 8 days after.

A while back, returning from a walk The tail goes up, and she scoots to the edge of a corner barrier, something goes crunch, and she spits out a rat which takes 2 steps and keels over. SHe starts snorting with glee.
I grab a rock and flattened rat skull then into plastic poo bag it goes.

Moles and gophers have met similar fates.

8 Nights ago, same corner  she launches into a bush, and ulcerates her cornea.

7 days ago vet prescribed antibiotic eye drops, and when i put them i  both eyes turned red.
Next day, different ab drops, and happy dog.

2.days later she sees her former sociopathic  disgusting human owner, and pukes up dinner and then some. Next day bad gas, but ok.

but eye not healing great so far.
She's likely rubbing it when I am not looking., the cone of shame was not tolerated, but thereafter used as a threat if i caught her rubbing it.

Getting some.sort of .soothing healing serum made from her blood, upping frequency of ab drops. The serum makes me think wacky california flakey treatment, but idk.

Some antiinflammatory pills, and no more ball playing for a bit, tug o war  until tired, or we both sleep poorly.

I wish she respected the integrity of foliage.

When I had a small scratch on my cornea, blinking hurt so much i just taped my eye shut for days.

I was surprised at the term 'ulcer'. Vet said it was a big one, and with my headlamp and reading glasses, i can see it.
Got to be very painful.
She said it has healed a little bit, reduced in size with less ragged edges, and is no deeper, but expected more.

Wish they offered the chewy anti-inflammatory pain killers last week.

Well, the autologic drops appeared more.effective than the gentamicin, and so i used those until gone at 1 week mark, after which healing seemed to stagnate. I continued with gentamicin after, but .

2 nights ago on out ritual evening walk, playing ball, she decided that rolling onto her back, digging her head in to grass, paws.i the air, barking, goofball mode was a good idea.
2 hours later both eyes looked horrible.
Just came back from vet. Same hospital, different doc.

Fluoro stained both eyes, no damage on left eye, but right eye ulcer had grown. Reinjured, somehow.

Please.keep your damn head out of the bush!
I hear myself yelling.
No detritus under eye lids.

More.autologus drops made, 4 vials this time, throw 3 in freezer, the 4th, in fridge throw out after 2 days. Then thaw out a new vial. Drops every 4 hours. Different directions than last time.

Making autologus drops from her blood, takes almost an hour, theyll keep fiona and debride her eye, remove scab.
In order to save 80$, i take prescriptions.for tramadol, rimadyl and erthromycin to 3.different ocal pharmacies, with coupons vet gave me. 95f outside, aircon in vets so im all over dog free errands.

First pharmacy closed off.screen in my face for lunch hour.

Think of hapoy place, remind myself hating humans is not healthy, drive to second pharmacy where i could save 44$. Line 20 people.deep. pissed off.people.

Evacuate.

What is 5he deal with e bike riders? I see one doing 20 in a 35 zone but not inside the car wide in bike lane, but in right lane. Someone on their phone decided to kiss their back tire. E bike got.pushed off, hit curb, rider went flying over curb into grass, rolled like a skateboarder stood up and was cursing the fleeing driver. Many witnesses, thankfully, a few.stopped, I kept going.

Third pharmacy, priciest but still cheaper than if vet hands me pills, say 2 of.3 they dont have in the right dosage. Third was.2$ cheaper than vet.
Evacuate.

Kept my cool. Had 15 minutes left.
Stop at trader joes.
The friday fustercluck in parking lot, should have been the signal to forget it,
But I needed to fill my 7 gallon drinking water container.
So i do, then brave TJ's
Wrong move. 2 of the main it3ms i get, every 3 to 4 weeks are gone.
Huge lines, 2. customers.ahead of me.decided to.ask the cashier ifnth3y still had such and such, and so line stops as they send someone.to go.look.

Come.back, nope,.chat complain selfvictimization mode.
Next.customer.decides they need same attention.
I drop handbasket and walk out.

Goback to vet, say charge me for the meds you have in stock, cant.afford.it, but cant.mentalky afford the alternative.

Parked until Tuesday, screw any holiday weekend festivities

30.pack of.coors and.some .mexi food bought on other.side.of hiill, closer to ocean, where it is 10f cooler. Left van with interior at 89f, returned to it at 85f, fans crank3d and a cold sweaty bowl of.fiona water half drank.

Her jumping into that bush after a rat, is now a 1000$ adventure, so far,

With all of 2 hours.of sleep im thinking.of.popping a Fiona anxiety med, with a beer and sleeping.

I dont have it in me now, to enforce the cone of shame.

Just got.back from the vet.

On Saturday i wet her down, threw the ball, she missed it chased it, came back with the right eye half shut and jumped in van.
Looked horrible for 8 hours. I loaded her uop with trazadone wet her down, aimed a fan at her, and just stressed hard, worried.

Next morning, a bit better, maybee 5%
Monday morning 15% better.
This morning 15% better. Still red, lower eyelid not fully retracting, but looks way better overall.

They just now did the corneal staining, doc comes back in and said ulcer is completely healed, stop autologus droos, continue erythromycin 2x a day for 6.more days.

Remaining Redness.of eyes most likely related to her allergies.

The trazadone, anxiety meds as needed. I asked about using them anytime she is likely to.suffer from separation anxiety, so i can go surfing and not return to cops at hyoer ventilated van i nsde of which the yipping yelping dog sounds likes she is being tortured.

He said he'd refill the trazadone anytime i need, just call...
Wants me.to.call Monday to relate how she is is doing.

Side.note, the little.drop.dispensers teey give with the autologus drop e do not.seal.properly, one drop into.eye and 4.drolps.drip down sides, at 7 dollars a drop i am.miffed.

Related this to vet tech and showed them how to test the bottles for a good.seal.

Tech said they'd make more.drops.for free.if docs prescribed but he said no need, they've done their job. Gonna keep one remaining vial frozen...
