Van battery question
#1
My brother in law pronounced my van battery dead. D.E.A.D.  Is a longer warranty more expensive battery better than a cheaper shorter warranty battery better? BEST PLACE TO BUY?

I got an $80, group size 24, deep cycle, flooded, trolling motor battery with a 2 year warranty instead of a $100 replacement starter battery.  I have been using that battery for everything from engine starting to LED lights and MaxxFan.  It is the largest battery that would fit in the original location.  The hold down clamp is not original.  Every month I add 20 to 30 ML of distilled water per cell.  Almost every day it gets a good charge from the solar panel.  It's 3 years old so that's less than $30 per year.

So, direct answer, I got a short warranty cheap battery.  I'm happy with it.  I got it at Sam's.
Say good night, Dick.

I got 7 years out of my old $150 battery. What does that equal per year, ~$21.50 a year and less hassles?

Ford says it is under warranty. See what they actually do.

I get my batteries at Wal-Mart because they are everywhere and they have never given me any hassle about warranty.

I don't wait for a battery to go stone cold dead. When it starts complaining (engine turning over slower), I start planning for a replacement. O'reilly's has been providing my batteries for years and they are pretty much everywhere too.

Ford said it was under warranty so they replaced it this morning. Nothing out of pocket and I got free breakfast.
