Hello :-)
Welcome home Scar.
Thank you for your service.
I share your spinal injury, mine not nearly as bad. I do have compounding issues the older I get.
I was in a car that was stopped abruptly by an oak while sliding down a hill on its roof.
My wife and I are headed back to Oregon after winter, I would love to stop in and say hey.

Thanks, and glad you're ok.    Welcome bout anytime, but would recommend post winter, its' 15 outside and snow has started to appear, though pretty light so far this year.  I can still drive in.

Oh if we make it out it will for sure be spring. We are in a 28' people mover type, repurposed shuttle bus. My wife and I have considered buying a chunk of land in Oregon and doing the same thing that you are doing when we decide to slow down and "retire". Figure that is a good 20 years out. I am a homesteader by nature. Love what you are doing, commendable.

Interesting thread, wonderful offer, hope to catch you in the spring to fall months sometime. I’m definately a winter wuss...  arthritis complains too much, each old broken bone reminds me.
Hope you get VA care and a disability from that service connected accident.

All I remember about Idaho is the beauty of the northern part of the state (around Bonner’s Ferry and Sandpoint), getting much more desolate as you get closer to a Utah, with Pocatello being hot as hell in the summer.

It’s very pretty up in the mts and forests, just too cold and wet for me for winters. But glad you like it, sounds like a great spot.  Maybe make yourself a YouTube video of your place and I’ll bet you’d have some female company.

Thanks for coming on over!

Well, I guess you know we have to ask you how big that cannon is, right?

Glad you're here. And awfully glad you're at your place for those who need you. Important stuff, that.

Sometimes I think I'm too set in my ways and should give up on the female company part.   I was actually born in North Idaho in Couerdalene and agree thats its the way nicer part of the state.  Though Idaho is a lot more varied that you suggest.  The large swath east to west that looks like a smiley face across Idaho is the 'desert' as we call it, not legally as it gets a hair more water than the definition but it might as well be.  Too hot and dry for anything but cactus and sagebrush.  But it's framed by mountains on both sides and those central mountains between me and the north have thousands of lakes in em.

I only built a 45mm so far, was considering going bigger.  Friend of mine has one that shoots bowling balls about three miles.

hmm.. reminds me, a few of us kids used to take the 'cannon, powder and spuds' and go launch somewhere in a remote
area, of course. THEN.. we'd get all panicky that the sheriff was gonna catch up so we'd hurry and pack it all up
and drive to the next area...  gigglin all the way' ...talk about loud!   Big Grin ...good times....
