can't connect to this site

Well obviously I did, finally.  I don't know if it's just me or what, however I  am able to just pull up my site history and just click and connect to this site say about 50% of the time with no problem.

Often as today when I'd touch vandwellerforum.com I couldn't connect and my history would disappear from my screen.  Even when I'd type in vandwellerforum.com and hit enter I couldn't connect.
I don't  know what causes this, I just thought I'd let you guys know about it.  Today it took about 7 or 8 trys to connect.

FWIW, I've noticed this site has been slow as molasses at times.  I've even had instances where a new page comes up blank, and I have to hit the reload button.  Makes me wonder if the server is trying to support too much traffic.  Of course, if no one else is noticing this, then maybe the problem is on my end.

Funny... I just got an internal error message going from this thread to today's posts... something is getting caught up for sure!

We're showing zero errors on the server side of things, so I'm not sure what is happening... the little research I've done shows error logs with internal errors, but nothing so far. Please continue to let us know when this happens! Maybe it has to do with added usage, but we won't know unless y'all post each time! Well, me included now!

just played around with the test site speed sites and most is good,looks like theres some optimizing a few things like cache and css? stuff i have no idea what are but by far the biggest sucker of load times where the forest background and header

i knew the forest pic was going to be a problem,why most websites have a basic look,but it's a nice pic,probably will have to kill it for a simpler design

i dont have a clue,it's a miracle i have gotten it this far,hopefully roger and belinda can or we will need a webmaster type that can do the technical stuff

Early Monday afternoon 10/23/17  I connected on the 2nd try.  Just now it took 7 trys at close to 1:45am cst. on 10/24/17.  Just FYI

the best analogy i have seen was

a shared server(what we are on) is like living in a crowded apartment with one water inlet,if one person has all their water running the all the rest of the people living in the apartment cant take a shower

the next step up,which i would like to go(if the site stays alive)is like renting a 3 bedroom house with roommates,you have a lot more resources but still have to live with someone

the bigboy high volume websites have a dedicated server,we dont have to worry about that,$100+ a month

i think being on a shared server is responsible for the not being able to connect and random sometimes slowness of the site 

i am sure if we found someone who knew exactly what they are doing they could go in and optimize/clean stuff up and make the site smoother but the very last thing this sites needs is me anywhere near the coding

if the page is loading slow one of the simple themes should speed things up
