My wife is from 100 miles east of The Landings & lived on a hilltop where the next hilltop was Kentucky with the lake in between. Her Granddad spent years moving graveyards before the TVA flooded it but when the water got low you could see the ones they didn't move. Her other Granddad had a great bottomland farm they paid him a pittence for & a small brick house on a tiny lot in town. It was quite the undertaking back then.

I went by the shop today, I needed some work done on some large metal tower standoffs, and what'dya know...the tiny house is finally complete..(has it been a year already?).....just waiting for the new owner to pick it up!

Wes, the owner of the shop, gave me a tour of the tiny house and I took some pics...just imagine with lumber and steel prices what something like this would cost today!

First, the outside:

There is a slot for the ladder, used to access the loft:

And some cool overhead lighting...

The engraving and trim on this 'settee'...

Very nice...and about the price?

Don't ask...

I watch all the Tiny Home shows on tv. Prices will knock your socks off for a 150 sq ft or a 300 sq ft one is insanity on prices LOL

but these are not 'rv' built ya know, so many put in fancy countertops, buy alot of higher end and custom built cabinets and more so in reality you are building a 'real' home on a trailer.

One family of 5 built a 400 sq ft one and came in at like $120K and I thought OMG for that---what I could buy for that--LOL and in reality they were smushed in there tight as could be.

I love them tho! I am a tiny house lover definitely Smile

Yeah this thing is an actual tiny house, not an RV...although in NM where it is headed, keeping it registered as an 'RV' means it is legal to sit on the lot and not raise the property taxes on the lot.

But nothing about this is 'cheap'...solid wood everywhere...he said it weighs over 12,000 pounds...which actually seems low to me.

12K? Shoot, my van weighs almost 10K. Sounds low to me too. That has to be a guesstimation.

Yeah...it looks heavy to me...feels VERY solid and substantial, like an actual house on a foundation, no bouncing or movement when you walk inside...I bet its pushing over 20,000 but who knows.
