New thin framed 100 watt panel available
#1
Anyone seen these?  I was searching on the Home Depot website yesterday and saw this new product:

New
WindyNation
100-Watt 12-Volt Slim Polycrystalline Solar Panel for RV, Boat, Camping, Off-Grid

Questions & Answers (2)

$69.99

Overview

WindyNation's low profile design solar panel is ultra-slim coming in at only 0.67 in. thick. Using a custom designed aluminum frame we were able to achieve a robust, streamlined, and ultra-slim beautiful solar panel. It is nearly as thin as a flexible solar panel but maintains all of the beneficial characteristics of a rigid panel: proven reliability, 5-year warranty, UV and corrosion resistance, and a strong aluminum frame. This panel is specifically designed for off-grid applications where a streamlined, low-profile solar panel is desired. Perfect for vans, RV's, campers, boats, trucks, off-grid cabins, off-grid telecommunication sites, etc.
  • Ultra-thin (0.67 in. thick) design with a robust aluminum frame, absolutely perfect for mounting on vans, RV's, campers, trucks, boats, and off-grid cabins

  • Outstanding electrical performance under high temperature and low irradiance conditions

  • Capable of withstanding 1 in. Dia hail traveling at terminal velocity

  • 5-year material and workmanship warranty, 25-year power warranty

Anyway, I am about to order one of these cause’ they are a reputable brand and it’s the lowest price i’ve seen, not to mention the thickness...

Thoughts?

Says 8 pounds on specifications, so pretty light.  For a framed panel application I think I will bite and order one.  I don’t see a limit, but then I’m a “small potatoes” player...

Still trying to get around the $27 core charge for a group 31 deep cell battery from my local Batteries Plus store... I don’t like paying 20% of the battery cost just on a core. Must be an old 12v battery laying around somewhere... (so keep your hoods locked!)

This may or not help (in the future)?

The last battery I bought I asked the guy "I've got to go to my camper to switch 'em out , Is there a time limit on bringing it back ???"
He marked it as traded in and told me "just bring it in when you can"........

It was December,,,I still have it.

$27 ,,,,sad, Hope you find one.(Look near the dumpster at auto parts places...)

About a year ago, I was working out in my yard, and a guy stopped and said, hey, I see you have a couple of old batteries there, wanna get rid of them? (they were sitting near the gate)

I said sure, take em both.

He said thanks, and as he drove off in his pickup I saw that he had a LOT of old batteries in the back of that pickup....he must of been just driving around looking for old batteries and, presumably, asking if he can have them.

One way to make a little cash I guess.

I buy Exides at Rural King & they take any size in trade, a scooter battery they don't care. At one time I was getting almost $30 for 6v golf car batteries at an Interstate place.
