what cable to connect a Roku LT to a portable DVD player?

Goal:
Frugally Kludge together a streaming video device from my existing gear, in time for the Game of Thrones finale.
(...or not too long afterwards.)
Plus, general video streaming, after each two week NFS/BLM period, mainly to get caught up on news & some "fun" viewing.

My Roku is an old (circa 2011) "LT", 720p, with two separate output ports (only one is meant to be used at any time):

• HDMI port
  
• "A/V" port, and comes with a cable for it, that has a headphone-like jack (male) at one end, and the standard trio of composite RCA connector plugs at the other end
  (the manual calls that cable an "A/V cable RCA to 3.5mm")

There's no HDMI port.
It has two round ports that are the same size, the green one is labelled "AV IN", orange is labelled "AV OUT".
I tried my Roku's A/V cable, and each RCA plug would go in, but felt somewhat loose, and nothing happened.
Yes, I did switch the player into "AV" mode.
The two "AV" ports are definitely not S-video (no internal pins), and I did shine a flashlight into them, just to make sure.

What cable would work to connect these?

The docs claim the DVD player's "AV IN" is for this purpose.
I've exchanged a few very frustrating emails with the support folks in China, but they keep sending me instructions on how to use the DVD player with a TV.
They don't seem to grasp that a Roku is output-only, and I want to input it into the DVD player.
Grrr!Argh!

Do the round holes look like headphone jacks ?

Yes, I've already tried pretty much every cable.

It's weird that this seems so hard to find the right term. I've tried many different terms in both Amazon and Google. This is such a reasonable thing to try, there must be a cable (I hope!).
The two gadgets together cost less than a low end TV, and they're highly space efficient, yet give one the capabilities of a smart-TV and a DVD player.
If for no other reason, I need to Hack This!

If the HP plug fit the DVD AV in...
Connector is probably 3 or 4 cond.1/8 phone plug to the the component output jacks on the Roku ?
All fairly lo level stuff so damage from mistakes is unlikely.
I never used one so just guessing....but slightly educated guessing so....

Seriously , just find a ten year old to ask might be the easy out on this..

Yes, I tried it.
It did not work.

I also figured it wouldn't brake anything.

One of you AV wizards is going to know what the correct term(s) is/are.

It appears both of your devices have a 3.5 mm stereo "video and audio" jack. It looks like the DVD player input is the green jack as far as I can tell. From what you stated, the Roku has this same 3.5 mm stereo output connector. The make 3.5 mm stereo male to 3.5 mm stereo male cables.

If you have a headset or anything with a 3.5 mm male plug on it, see if it fits those two jacks.

Brian, a headphone jack does fit into the DVD player's "AV IN" port.
It feels very snug, but doesn't require excessive force.
I tried the player's AV cable (with 3 RCA connectors at other end) and it feels the same level of tightness as when I inserted the headphone jack.

When I insert each of those same jacks (headphone, DVD) into my Roku, they're looser fitting, but still feel "right".

What's the Magic Name for a cable with those jacks (male headphone size) at each end?
I tried looking for "AV cable", but no success - I may have given up too soon.

I've been assuming this was some sort of Magical cable. Maybe it's a lot simpler, and I'm just overcomplicating it?

Just make sure you DVD player has the exact same end as the above picture. This should work unless they did some wonky wiring on the backside of those device jacks.

Edit to add: your nearest Walmart or other store should have them.

Count the number of separation points on the plug. Compare closely to what you have.

Yes, there's 3 black rings (like that 2nd cable) on the DVD player's cable's output jack.

Really Dumb Question: So even though it says "stereo" it can also carry the video signal?

Would a dollar store or "Shopko" or grocery store carry that?
I'm about 40 miles from the nearest Walmart, but a "mere" 20 miles from a town with a Shopko, "Tractor Supply", 2 grocery stores, and sundry dollar stores.
In about a week, I was planning to head there for supplies & errands (recycling, fancier Library).

I can thoroughly test the cable while there, and return it if it's not The One.
