Maybe this is obvious to some, maybe not. As far as I know I came up with this myself, but I doubt I'm the first.
When cooking things that involve heating of water, you can have the water do double duty by using it for more than one thing.
For example:
- Hard boiled (hard cooked) eggs, then use some of the water for tea or coffee and the rest for dishes
- Boil potatoes, then cook some pasta when the potatoes are soft
What other combinations can you come up with to conserve water, fuel or electricity while cooking?
one thing i do quite often is turn off the burner/oven before i'm done cooking, when i flip the egg i turn the burner off, there's plenty of heat left to finish cooking

It only takes a minute of boiling to kill most bacteria, things like salmonella and ecoli, so safe leftover water use tips are great!! Really like the pasta idea.

Recycled Water uses
1. You can use the cooled water to water houseplants, or to clean sinks, toilets and floors. If the water contains grease, add a few drops or lemon dish soap, or mild baby shampoo to make the water grease free.
2. Rinse vegetables in a bowl of the cooled down water.
3. You can use the water in which you boil your pasta and use this starchy solution to prep your soups. You can also save the water leftover from boiling veggies, and add it to your soup stock.
4. Catch the free flowing water whilst heating the shower in a bucket. You can use the clean water to feed outdoor plants, feed animals, water your lawn, trees and shrubs and or cloths.
5. Instead of draining your bathtub after bathing, use the water as grey water to flush the toilet by replumbing the bath waste into a grey water tank.
6. Take baths instead of using showers. Nearly 7 to 10 gallons of water is lost down the drain when you shower. When you take baths instead, you can save all the bathwater for other use.
8. Create a catchment for rain water for when it rains and use it to wash cloths

Take a Navy shower in a gallon of water or less. Much less than a bath. I have a oven thermometer with remote probe that I stuck between the insulation and the hot water tank. I set the temp to 100* and shut off the water heater when the alarm sounds. I put my coffee pot under the shower head and turn on the hot water only. When the hot water gets there, turn off and set the coffee pot aside. Turn on the hot water only long enough for each task and at a low setting. On for ~2-5 seconds, wet hair. Wash hair and rinse (about another 5 seconds unless you have long hair). Wet washcloth about a second. Wash face and ears (I don't use soap on my face. Wet washcloth some more (another second). Lather washcloth with soap and wash beard area and neck. Shave. Wash rest of body. Put washcloth and razor on floor. Turn on hot water to rinse while kneading washcloth with feet to rinse soap (about 15 to 20 seconds). Dry razor and wring out washcloth. Dry off and squeegee floor. If you turn on the water full blast you will use a lot more water. I turn it on just enough for a very gentle spray. If the water is running, some of it is getting on me.
I have run a stopwatch on water run times for each step and added them together. I then ran the water at the same time setting into my coffee pot. It made 1 1/2 coffee pots of water at the same runtime.
Water in coffee pot goes into the coffee maker for coffee the next morning from getting the warm water to shower head. I have not come up with a more streamlined or efficient way of showering and shaving. You can scrub and wash as long as you want to. Just be efficient when the water is running.

No, I don't even have a van. They were just water saving ideas that i chipped into the conversation and thought that a bath would be better than a shower due to less water consumption.

You can take a full sponge bath with a half gallon of warm water with a tablespoon of baking soda mixed in. It cleans, cuts body oil and deodorizes, and you don't need to rinse. Safe for all body parts. If you use too much soda, your skin will look powdery when you're dry. IOW, more is not better

I use baby wipes between showers (no water). When on the road, I shower 3 times a week. I do have a 35 gallon fresh water tank and a blue 7 gallon water container of water. I have only run out of water in the main tank one time and was sure glad I had the spare. I can easily stay out two weeks.
