[challenge] share foods that when cooked leave a strong lingering aroma
#21
In this part of the world (the N.E.), used car dealers use an Ozone generator in a closed vehicle for an hour.
It does not mask the odor it destroys it.
You'll have to do a search for all the specifics but I have first hand experience with the results and there is zero smell left in a smoked in vehicle to include when running the AC or heater.
Some car Detailers have an ozone generator or they can be purchased on-line. I'd opt for a dealer and have them do the process using a commercial machine. The last car I had done I bought cheap because it reeked of smoke smells, nobody wanted it. I left it overnight at the dealer and I am still amazed with the no-smell result.

(Yes, I know ozone punches holes in the earths something or other..... but do you really think Febreze is good to breathe? google that toxin...)

I remember from the way back times when we used to smoke... ummm.. well it wasn't quite legal but you could get some spray cans of ozone that had an indian head image on the can.  In case of someone stopping by that didn't quite agree with your chosen lifestyle at that time.  I don't think ozone is a problem since it's the ozone layer that gets holes punched in it.  I think it was the propellants that had chlorofluorocarbons in them.. or CFC's.  I could be wrong.  Good call btw and thanks for the memory jolt.   I did find this while searching for that indian head spray can:    https://www.homedepot.com/p/ZEP-16-oz-Sm.../202858239

Definitely the fabreeze and if you can remove the seat and air it out in the sun that too would be a good idea.
Sprinkle some bi carb soda on the carpets and furniture to neutralize the smell.
wipe down the walls and other surfaces with diluted distilled vinegar.
Open windows and doors to air out the area.

My 2 cents is to replace the headliner material (pretty easy to do and can get the material etc from Hancock or JoAnn's Fabric stores) Looks great too! , throw on some kick ass seat covers, leave cans of baking soda under seats, shampoo carpet if it has any. Done.

Yesterday, got into the driver's seat, and was immediately hit by the smell.
Dithered a moment, popped inside W, got a thing of cinnamon, gently shook some onto the seat underneath the cover that GypsyDogs kindly provided.
Major improvement!!!

Jim, you Da Man! Smile

The vents that folks mentioned - would anything bad happen if I lightly shook some cinnamon down them?
I'm not sure where the access is, so I'm thinking about starting with the driver side air vents.
Will not do so without explicit sanity check. Smile

Well if you shook some powdered cinnamon in the vents you might get a face full the first time you turned your defrost on.

You might be better off if you can find cinnamon extract (liquid). I used to soak toothpicks in it. It is potent so a drop or two would do.

Brian, why liquid instead of powder?

Cool Collateral Cinnamon bonus:
Night before last, as I mentioned elsewhere, due to snowstorm, had my first no rest-room-nearby night, and finally did my first pee-in-a-receptacle-in-the-van.
Was concerned about smell..  so after pouring into the laundry jug, decided to rinse out the receptacle and sprinkled a little cinnamon into the water.
It worked really well! Big Grin

Liquid cinnamon doesn't evaporate well and won't get blown out of the vents.

I agree about the liquid. It will last much longer.
