A Simple Woodstove DFM

Figured I'd attempt it, and see what happens.

1. Simplicity. Not going to be feature laden or custom castings!
2. Small. Anything heats the tiny space, and, well, there's no space for a big stove, or anything big for that matter!

Here's an example of one welded together for the icehouse-



I'm thinking ~ 6x8x12 with 2 1/2" auto exhaust pipe (see requirement #1)
My buddy suggested using round pipe or tube- hard to balance a coffee cup on, though

Any ideas? just weld ends on a 6" tube, cut a 2 1/2 hole for the chimney bung, then fashion a door?

It'll sit behind driver's or passenger's seat (when in use) and exhaust out a cutout closed in window

the thicker gauge steel the better so oxy/acetylene  would be my choice

I have heard of people using ammo boxes as wood stoves.

Jim the Big spender! I'm thinking scrap around the farm, or in the metal shop's drop pile.
Why, an ammo can would have to be $10 or so? LoL

Seriously , many companies are making tiny stoves like that.
You should be able to copy one or just custom the size you need it to be.

Lloyd House made a small stove from an old propane tank to put in his van/house.  This isn't the greatest photo, but it's all I could find (lower left corner of photo).  He cut a round hole just inside the 'shoulders', welded supports to keep it on its side, and has a steel wok lid as an ash catcher:  https://www.lloydkahn.com/2010/06/lloyd-...onversion/     I think there is a better photo in Lloyd Kahn's book Tiny Homes on the Move.

 I WANNA WELD SUMPIN!!!

I RECENTLY SAW ON A BUS CONVERSION ON YT A SMALL CUSTOM BUILT WOOD STOVE.  ONE THING THE OWNER SAID STUCK WITH ME.  SHE SAID THE FLAT TOP WAS BUILT WITHOUT FIRE BRICK SO THAT SHE COULD HEAT THINGS ON THE TOP OF IT IN THE WINTER.

I ONCE KNEW SOMEONE OUT IN WESTERN KANSAS THAT HAD A WOOD BURNING STOVE IN HIS '60s SOMETHING VW BUS.
